F100 Bed Question

Can anyone tell me what the width of the metal bed strips are on a F100?
Thanks in advance.

the slot in the two boards are slightly wider to allow for adjustment.

Actually, the rabbeted area of the boards is slightly wider to allow for expansion of the wood. Without it, the expanding wood would either bow, or bend the strips.

There are lots of threads about beds and bed wood finishing! You might want to try the search for them.

But in the mean time, here's acouple good sites with specs!

I am working on a design to inlay flames in a contrasting wood for my bed. I needed the bed strip spacing so I can get the proportions correct.
Thanks

Hey!!! It's Mar-K Mark! Haven't seen you in a while - since the bed wood finishing test thread I think!

Yep you guys have A LOT of great tech papers. And also just for the record every time I call, your folks really know their stuff and are very willing to go out of there way to help!

When it comes to bed threads, your link is the first one I paste down.

Scott! Inlaying? Sounds fantastic - do you have a design drawing to share? I'd love to see it and here about th ewoods you are going to use.

I was thinking about a double 3" chevron stripe of Honduran Mahogany in a bed of Canarywood for my "planks." The first one would touch it's point center at the front panel and run out diagonally on both sides to the center of the fender rivets (just above the axel) and the second one would start in the center and run diagonally to the tailgate corners. I'm also thinking about wooding the inside sides with the same size stripe and polished stainless strips.

But my thoughts tend to change from month to month!

I am working on the plans right now. I will post it when I complete it. I am sure it will be years before I get to the point where I make the bed, but I figured I would do the design while I have some spare time. For the wood, I was thinking of Bocote, Cocobolo or maybe walnut. The rest of the bed I am thinking Beech wood. That would give a high contrast to the dark flames.

We have an example of a customer who did this in his bed on our website. Here is the link:
Pictures of Chevy trucks made with MAR-K classic truck parts
It's not a Ford, but a good example. Look about half-way down on the stepsides and you'll see the thumbnail. If you click on it, it will take you to the page with his info.

And just to be fair we have some great Ford trucks in our gallery and here is the link:

Anyone who has MAR-K parts on their truck, send us your pictures/comments and we'll post them!

We do not sell a Kit for the flatbeds, but we can custom make a wood floor for nearly any truck. All we need are the dimensions. There is a link on our site for a custom form that you can fill out and fax or mail to us and we'll give you an estimate.
MAR-K Custom Forms

You can see from the pictures in the gallery, we have done several flatbeds.
