Yep you guys have A LOT of great tech papers. And also just for the record every time I call, your folks really know their stuff and are very willing to go out of there way to help!
When it comes to bed threads, your link is the first one I paste down.
Scott! Inlaying? Sounds fantastic - do you have a design drawing to share? I'd love to see it and here about th ewoods you are going to use.
I was thinking about a double 3" chevron stripe of Honduran Mahogany in a bed of Canarywood for my "planks." The first one would touch it's point center at the front panel and run out diagonally on both sides to the center of the fender rivets (just above the axel) and the second one would start in the center and run diagonally to the tailgate corners. I'm also thinking about wooding the inside sides with the same size stripe and polished stainless strips.
But my thoughts tend to change from month to month!
I am working on the plans right now. I will post it when I complete it. I am sure it will be years before I get to the point where I make the bed, but I figured I would do the design while I have some spare time. For the wood, I was thinking of Bocote, Cocobolo or maybe walnut. The rest of the bed I am thinking Beech wood. That would give a high contrast to the dark flames.
