Too good to be an original and unrestored truck...???

Based on some of the response some people are wound pretty tight, and usually that would be me. Based on the way it is written it is misleading but based on the definition of "tamper"

I don't feel it was tampered with, no small block chevy, no tilt column, no automatic tranny, 9" rear, etc...
It is amazing sometimes the things that people all jacked up. The guy is just trying to sell his truck and if you had to pay someone to do that to a truck of that vintage it would cost alot of money.
A vehicle is only 'Factory Stock' until the first service.

I think the seller is trying to make a point, that it is not Darksided, but his remarks can easily be interpreted to imply that he is calling this a concours-type resto, where everything is true to original. It isn't. It's a super-nice truck, and a decent price, but it's not original. The "black plate" thing is worth about $5 to me, I've never understood the mystique surrounding them.

Are the running boards actually suppose to be the body color or black? My two F-1's have black running boards under the layers of other black paint. I guess that makes my truck worth at least $10 grand then! The sides of the beds on both my trucks are straight and not all beat to heck but maybe neither were "farm" trucks! Nevertheless it is a nice truck, but a little overpriced I think IMHO. However misleading the description is it's buyer beware!

How could a person even proove that the plates are the orignal license plates issued to the vehicle?
I mean I can get the correct 1956 texas plates that says " 56 " in the upper right corner but how can a person prove those plates came with the vehicle or not?
I doubt you could find an orignal vehicle in the sense of factory orignal. They were designed to be drove and being drove is going to run into parts that wear out or break.
Now I do have to admit I want to restore mine back like she left the assembly line but god you just cant find all the information to do it. Dont even know if the steering gearbox is supposed to be natural cast iron or black. Dont know if the frame should be body color or black. I can see on the frame alot the orignal Diamond Blue paint on the frame and not overspray. I know the body was painted seperate then set atop the frame.

On the 1963 Black CA plate, by the letter(s), one can tell which CA county the plates were originally issued...and the year they were issued.
I know where some of the 3 letter sequence non commercial plates were issued and when.
And a few of where the one letter commercial plates were issued.
In the late 1960's, on the commercial plates, the letter is after the number.
The commercial plates were used thru midyear 1971, the non commercial plates were issued thru circa July 1969.
This jazz cannot be done...AFAIK, with any other CA license plate.
Back then dealers didn't have these plates in their possession, like they do today.
All the black plates were issued individually by the CA DMV by dozens of branch offices.
On ebay I've seen dozens of cars that have these plates on them. The sellers tout they are the original plates that came with the vehicle when new.
Well....they might be...they might not be. It all depends on the first letter.
I remember one seller had a 1965 Mustang with the usual over-hyped BS info.
The black plate began with a W...which meant it was not on there in 1965, because a W plate wasn't issued until 1968.
With a W plate on a 1965 vehicle, this could mean two things.
Either the original plates were damaged or stolen, or the vehicle was not sold new in CA, and came into the state at a later date.
The DSO code, listed on the Warranty Plate, when decoded, lists the Ford district sales office...where the original selling dealer ordered the vehicle from.
If the DSO is 71 (Los Angeles-SoCal) or 72 (San Jose-NorCal), the vehicle was sold new in CA.
If the DSO isn't one of these two numbers, the vehicle was not sold new in CA.

It's being updated. Instead of bashing the lady for typing only what she was told, some of us have the ability to write the seller, and say hey, nice truck, but....... She is a very nice lady. They are correcting the ad per my discussion with them. The truck has been restored, and the current seller is the second owner. All of the original parts were retained, and a few minor modifications were made. For the most part, the truck is about 95% all original, the 5% being color scheme inaccuracies, and the cloth interior and a few minor flaws like that. So, rather than bash the person as a liar or a piece of crap, I sent them an e-mail asking them to correct the ad, as it was very misleading with several inaccuracies as printed. Generosity with knowledge can be a very powerful tool if used correctly and for the right reasons, instead of making a bunch of mules out of ones self. An expert can catch more flies with honey, then (s)he can with $%^& (something my mother always said before she was killed).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion Wmjoe and Truckeemtnfords! After all this is America - a free country - and we are not Communists (yet).
I'm glad they are correcting the add so it is accurate, and I hope they sell their truck for the asking price. As I stated before, I think despite the add, the truck was worth the price.

I tried to see the ad earlier at work but my system wouldn't let me see the pics, I've waited patiently at home all evening while others hogged the computer only to find the ads been pulled.......oooph.
I didn't even get a chance to try and pick the thing apart.....and its one of the things I do best.
