OK I used too have an 86 chevy 3/4 ton suburban that was unstoppable in the snow and plowing. I junked that piece of crap and bought a 97 f-250 HD 4x4, 460 with e4od trans. Love the truck. But in 4 wheel drive....it sucks. I have a Boss plow on it and when I plow.....I never got stuck so many times in my life. One rear and one front turns.....(it does have new lockout hubs also). Is it because the rearend is not limited slip or posi? Because when I do burnouts for my kid...its a one wheel peel 12 houses long. What I was wondering is what is my best option too get this thing too go through the snow normally. Do I change the whole axles, differrentials, or air lockers, or can I just do something to what I have in there now? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks. Is this a common problem with these trucks...being an HD and all?
Weld the spider gears in the front and rear differentials if this is just a plow truck. Then all four wheels will spin for ya and you shoudnt have any problems with snow. If you drive it on the road then you might wanna look into some limited slips or selectable lockers. But my guess is that you could get by with a good set of tires since it seems that you like to burn em off!lol
