Looks good Keith. I've been gone way too long. I think you were just starting to fab the Caddy fins on your box last I saw it. I feel your pain on the bodywork. Those compound curves were tedious for a novice bodyman like myself. I'd starve to death if I did it for a living. I sanded my truck for years before I finally replaced half the sheetmetal with new.

Looks good, and once you get the primer on there will be a whole lot more sanding,I think this is the part that takes so long to do as a novice, for me anyways your skills are far above mine. I'm sure once you start taking it to shows that one of the magizines will do an article on it and might just make the front cover.

I drove my wife nuts with block sanding my trucks. She'd come out to the garage after I primed it for the third time and ask, "Now it's ready to paint, right?" "No" I'd answer, "I have to block it out again." She'd just roll her eyes and go back into the house again. It pays off in the end if you block it until it right. 99% of a good paint job is prep work under the paint.

I feel your pain, Keith. The bodywork is the hardest part, but it is also the most rewarding. This is where the vision gets form.
Keep it up. Experience is the teacher. You'll be amazed how you pick it up. By the time you are done, you will be a real pro....but if you are like me, you won't be eager to do more of it.
Do as much of it outside as possible. The mess is unbelievable. These disposable coveralls were a life saver.

You are right about all the sanding is 99% of the job.
I sanded my 53 3 times now at least and sure to sand and prime 3 more before I am ready to spray the topcoat.
On another vehicle--I spent 1 week every night after work blocking out each door....and it came out beautiful....and was worth it....and I have painted 100s of vehicles.
I love the sanding and masking and priming and spraying way more than any mechanical crap......AHHH THE SMELL OF BONDO AND PRIMER!!! YEA
