Couple questions

How do I know what tranny I have for sure? The van is a 97e350 auto.

I want to give it a chance and change the fluid, how do I drain the torque converter? I read once that to drain it all one can turn the engine ON then remove the hose from the tranny to the cooler and let the fluid flow out then refill is this right?

The tranny has 300k in it and something tells Me it might not last much longer but I don't have enough for a rebuild, what fluid should I use?

Look at the data tag in the driver's door opening. There is a column under "TR" that has either an E or a U. E means E4OD and U means 4r70W.

You can change all of the fluid by dropping the pan and removing the torque converter drain plug, or follow these directions:
