It could be completely unrelated and a bent push rod, but last week I picked up my truck from the shop after getting the rear end fixed... They did the CPS recall without my ok. I was pissed but o well...
Now this week I have a obivious miss, #8 fails a cont test and is at 4.5-4.7% value on AE...
What issues are people having with the new CPS's???
I think the #3 and #8 were thep problematic cylinders but I cant remember for sure. This is a bump so hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can give you some help.
Darm Chris you type fast. beat me to it.
Run the CCT a dozen more times and there's a good chance you'll see #3 fail also. It's a known issue for high rotational velocity numbers on #3 & #8 with the "new & improved" CPS. Mine would fail #3 about half the time.
With my recall gray, rough running and very rough starts, just didn't sound right. Put a black CPS in from Clay, smooth all around, idle,starts,running..can defintly tell the difference. Good luck...
I never had a knock, but they appear to affect some trucks worse than others. We've read about dealers charging to replace injectors based on failed CCT & perdel readings that turned out to be related to the CPS.
Now has everyone been getting a knock with this as well, or just the failed test? I could have a bent pushrod, but it sure seems like a timing issue.
Mine is #3 .. 3.2 and #8.. 6.1 (just put in reman non LL). Stopped at ford to get recall done. To just get numbers while i am waiting for black.. My truck has no recall on cps.. Dang. Just wanted the data while i wait for pete's black one to come in. I also have a #8 knock. Started last summer out of the blue. Seem better now with the cck but still there. I will see what happens when the Black ones come in.. Anyone have a non LL in #8 and the black CPS number?
Anyone have a non LL in #8 and the black CPS number?
Yep, my truck is like that. I still have a black CPS that I run, and my LL injector is long gone.
My #8 is quiet. In fact, I got that injector from Joe (CSIPSD), and I'm still grateful for it.
But I have a knock on either #2 or #4. Started knocking 2 years ago, and hasn't quit since. It's just another stock AD that decided to hammer away. It happens more often than you might think.
