Finally, purchased a metal end cap wrench fits perfectly for the FL820S filter.

The part No. is 54800 made by Lisle. Price is only $8.95 Canadian.

Did you buy it online? I did my first oil change on the truck last weekend and it was a pain in my *** to get that filter off there.

I found this filter wrench by searching the www. Lisle.com. It is a 93mm with 36 flutes. Then I went to a local hardware store (KMS Tools) and asked them to order it for me. It took 2 weeks but it is a perfect fit.

Mr. Dutchman .... I remembered my first oil changed was a #@%*& too. I thought they welded the filter to the block. I have being using strap wrench to do the oil change but I hated it. Now with the proper fit cap wrench, it should be much easier.

Here is a picture of the package and the cap wrench.

Hi 2004 XLT,

I am in Surrey, BC. KMS Tools is just a store that sell hardware such as compressor, drill, saw or welding equipment etc.

I am quite sure that if you go to one of those big auto parts store (like Lordco in BC), you can order this wrench. Lisle is a brand name hand tool company for automotive work. Lots of part store carry their products.

If you can't find it in Toronto area. Let me know.

Regards.

Me too, quarter turn after the filter meets the flange and put a little oil on the rubber gasket on the filter. not a single problem ever getting it off, the first change is a different story i believe, they are meant to be a b***h to get off!

you will NOT take the factory oil filter off by hand. I guarantee it.
