300 I6 Vs. IDI Diesel

YouTube - F 250 6 cyl vs Ford f-350 idi 2wd

What in the world? I don't understand why that diesel didn't pull the flatbed (the 300 powered truck). The diesel looked like it was trying. Is it because both trucks were spinning their tires?

I understand that, but I would think the power of the IDI would compinsate for both of these things.

I guess when it comes to bumper to bumper, the largest part of who "wins" has to do with the skill of the driver. We can call this video proof!

I'll agree A skilled driver can keep the tires gripping and pull while the unskilled will just spin. A neon with 180 ftlbs will spin on the ice if you punch it. But, one could throttle a unloaded 460 powered f100 out with no spining.

The powerless with skill can overcome the power, if the powerful is a numbskull.

gearing? maybe. I know nothing about the IDI but im assuming it makes more torque at any rpm than a 300.

traction? nope.

Skill? Absolutely.

The F-350 my uncle used to own, which he bought it for the sole purpose of going to pick up a late '40s John Deere Model R tractor a la 40 or so foot gooseneck flatbed trailer, had previously been converted to a water tank truck for a local VFD. When he bought it, they had already pulled the water tank off and converted it back to a flatbed, sans removing the insanely tall gears (5.xx:1, forget the exact ratio). Anyhow, to the point: I gathered a small collection of front and rear bumpers with that truck... off the trucks I outpulled, which included several 4x4s with a lot more HP and torque at the flywheel than I had. Mind you, both front and rear bumpers on said F-350 were welded on and not stock, so that probably had a little to do with it, too
