Clear Coat Peeling off Rim....Helllp

i got a set of KMC XD series 797 spys, black with machined look and on 2 of the rims where the machined look is clear coated there is a couple spots where its startin to peel like the size of a nickel i purchased all 4 rims 17x9's for 350 bucks orignally they are 175 a piece soo i still got a deal but i was wondering how can i fix this??? the black part of the wheel is perfect on all 4 its just the machined part of 2 of them have a couple small spots the coating is peeling off...

Do you still have a warranty on them? If not an option would be to take them off and have them powdercoated clear.. The powdercoater should beable to sandblast them for you...

ok ok would the sand blasting hurt the black painted part of the rim though?? because that is still in perfect condition....i was thinking about just getting fine sand paper and sanding the machined part of the wheels and just buying a powdercoat kit from summit for $125 and just getting the clear powdercoat and actually i could probaly even powdercoat the black part also

I don't know if it would hurt the black. But inorder to powdercoat it right would require a light sand blast. It would be just as easy to repowder them black and then clear.

but you might experiment a little with the sand paper and clear. Just experiment on the inside of the rim. See what works best...

I am not familiar with the summit kit. But to powdercoat them you would have to remove the tires and the rims would need to be in an oven up to 400 degrees to cure... depending of course on the type of powder you use..

You can always skip the clear and do a flat black too.. that is pretty sweet

yea that will probaly be a winter project i'm just leaving the rims on all summer its not really even noticableon the 2 i would just like to get it fixed and i'm not running them in the winter anyway, now if i powdercoat them wo0uld they be safe to run in the winter with the clear coating of powdercoat??

As long as they are powdercoated they should be safe!! Sounds liike a good plan!

i might just sand the machined part and let the black alone since its fine but powdercoat the whole thing clear...
