aluminum killed sheet metal
I just read about aluminum-killed sheet metal from a metal working article in Street Rodder. They mention that the best metal steel sheet is this alluminum killed where aluminus or silicon is introduce into the metal to make it plyable like aluminum and still weldable, with some less strength. I called the large metal supply houses in So. Calif. but they never herd of it. Anyone know where to get it? Sound like the trick for fabricating metal panel parts. Ed ke6bnl

You may want to check out the ULSAB Ultra Light Steel Auto Body web site. This is a consortium of steel manufacturers who set up a company to explore alternative ways to work with steel. It is amazing to see the new methods used to form sheet metal. Aluminum has made major in-roads into the steel sheet metal domain of vehicle construction. The steel companies are very concerned with the decline in business from the aluminum manufacturers. If the metal you seek exsists you may find word of it at this site.
