Just recently got my truck programmed by hypertech here in Bartlett, Tn(we get a fire fighter discount, $50 dollars for any tune ad they will program it back for free or let you change it free) anyways, did the stage 3 tune and i'm worried i'm going to screw my tranny up. No issues yet jus want to tank extra care of my truck. So i'm wanting to do some tranny upgrades and looking for some input. Thought i would do the transgo tugger kit, with a bigger pan and thought i might as well do a torque converter upgrade but don't know what to look for. Any inmput would be helpful. Thanks
Yeah i've already purchased a bigger cooler, the derale pan, and an external filter kit but haven't decided on weather to do the TC or even know what i should get be looking for in one. the only thing i pull on a regular basis is my tractor on a 20' flatbed that all together weighs around 7-8k and i have a 22' travel trailer. I'm not planning on getting crazy with the performance mods but basically want to keep everything in check. thanks
With those loads, the TG Tugger + better cooling should be enough. I'm not even convinced that the extra filtering is all that worth it. Good syn fluid will last 50k with stock filtering if you keep it cool. I think the bigger pan is a waste of money though...
If I pulled heavy regularly, I'd upgrade the TC, but 8-10k is nothing for these trucks.
well i already had the pan left over from an E4OD project that got abandoned so i figured i might as well use it. If i decide to put a better torque converter in what am i looking for? what brand/modifications should i look for? I want to make this tranny last and hold up as long as possible.

You can use a 6.0 (5R110) TC, or get an aftermarket one. It's not a cheap endeavor, though. And if the tranny does end up going, it'll have to be cut open & cleaned out. That's not cheap either. What I'm saying is that you can certainly do so, the tranny will work better (less slippage/heat generation in the TC), but it's not cheap. And with the weights you're talking, it's probably not really worth all the trouble/risk.
To put it another way, I wouldn't bother if I were you. If you towed heavier regularly, then I would.
