Hey all, I just thought I would enter right out the gates. I have a 48 F-1, and it's pretty rough. Here's the plan, so far. I am getting a 86 or 87 Lincoln Town Car, with the roller EFI 5.0, AOD, and 4 wheel disc brakes. The plan, is to keep the rig fairly simple in appearance, but under the hood is going to be the 5.0. I am going to go IFS, but keep the leafs in the rear. The seat and column, and all that stuff is going to simple. Stock bench, and an aftermarket plain column. I am thinking about keeping the steel nose, but converting it to a classic style full tilt.
Wow; talk about a hole shot! I red lighted too many times along the way to enumerate. Sounds like a good plan and that you have your bearings set. Keep your focus; there's a lot of people here that know their stuff and will glad to help.
Welcome to the board! Sounds like ya got a game plan. searching through the forum should result in some other crown vic swaps, which are about the same as the LC. (Panther platform) Good luck!
Thanks guys. I am going to swap in a 51/2 gauge cluster, and will be removing the metal floor to replace it with wood. This is going to be my wifes truck, and she WANTS, but may not be able to get, Chrysler Deep Ahmethist for the paint. Eventually, I will do some classic muscle car type alloys, but for now, I am thinking about staying stock steel for wheels. Eventually, I intend on rebuilding the 5.0, and doing some much needed performance improvements (cam, throttle body, maf conversion, cold air, etc., etc.)
welcome to the house of insanity glad you cleared the " floor " up ...... i thought maybe you or you were related to the joker i bought an old beater truck of another make from before . body was rough , but it ran and it had a nice new rubber floor mat and a solid floor ..... wood that is ! they had strung 2 x 4's across from side to side and they were the floor and cab mounts ....................
