What gas are you guys using?

In the thread about high mileage oil, the subject about what kind of gas people are using was brought up. I think this would be an interesting topic. So what are you guys filling up with?

Personally, I use 89 octane mid-grade in my truck, I have found that my seems to run a little better and get better mileage with the mid-grade fuel. As for which station I use, gas is gas in my opinion. I buy whatever is easiest to get to. Prices seem to always be within a couple of cents here in Pullman and a little cheaper 6 miles east in Moscow, Idaho.. The funny part is if you drive 27 miles south to Lewiston, Idaho gas is about 20 cents cheaper.

I get most of my gas at either Tesoro, Cenex, or Safeway. As long as the station sells a good amount of gas (meaning it is fresh) and the tanker truck has not been there recently, most likely you will get good gas.

I run 87 octane Shell in all my vehicles. I'm not sure what their new 'Nitrogen' additive will do for anything though. LOL

I'm not positive what the nitrogen is for, so don't quote me on this, but I am guessing it has something to do with making the gas burn cleaner. Hopefully someone who knows will chime in.

I run 87 octane in all of mine.....My old sportbike required high octane, but on a bike forum there was an article about running lower octane and keeping things cooler, making more power, so long as your not getting any pinging/knocking. So I run 87 in everything.

I use 87 in mine as well, and as for where you fill up, its not all the same. I looked up a list of stations that only buy from american oil suppliers and those are the only places I will go. Don't need to be sending more money to the desert so they can buy more stuff to kill more of us

At home I fill out of my dad's barrel (I'm assuming it's 89 octane) and at college I fill at Cenex with E10 89 octane. The Cenex station always has E10 $.10 cheaper or the same price as 87.

Edit: Turns out the local supplier (K&H) is supplied by Cenex also.

+1
Also I Never, I mean Never use any product from Exxon/Mobil. If there is a station directly across the street from one thats 5 cents higher per gallon, I'd go there before using those freakin bandits! IMHO, their gas sux, too.

i run 87 for the price, and i get pritty much the same gas mileage with what ever octane, but every few month i will fill up with 92 to try and help "clean out" the fuel system, but my brother on the otherhand aways runs 92 because he was told he should with his high output motor (5.0 ho) or else he runs the risk of having the gas combust in the intake, weather this is true or not i dont know

thats not true, if it was true there would be people blowing the intake off all the time, the only real difference between octane is the purity of the fuel and the amount of detergent they put in it. all gas has detergent to try and prevent the build up of carbon.

but its probably not because it will burn in the intake right? its probably because you have performance parts that require cleaner fuel to run at an optimum level

damn... can't even begin to imagine what ten thousand gallons of fuel costs. I choke up when I fill up, not so bad as it was six months ago, but still sucks. I had to buy a little dodge neon when gas in detroit got up to almost four bucks a gallon, my commute to work is about forty five minutes, couldn't afford to drive to work in my truck for a while
