Add-On Hood Scoop

Add-On Hood Scoop
Hey all,
I have an 89 F150. I have been looking for a scoop hood for a long time, but haven't found one for my particular model. I am thinking of buying an add on scoop that just bolts on to the factory hood, but I want that smooth finished look of the real scoop hoods. Is there any way that I could take body filler and fill the gap between the hood and scoop and sand it and paint it or would the filler just crack and look horrible?

Yup, you could add one to your hood, could use rivots or a 2 part epoxy. Yes you can fill it and make it look pretty, but with time you will most likely get stress crack especially if your 4 wheelin, twisting the body etc. Hoods are a big piece of sheet metal, thin and easy to tweak.

Use fiberglass reinforced filler on the seams. More resistant to cracking. You may want to try a functional scoop. It may take some fiddling to come up with something that seals to the hood on the inside (rubber seal), so try to get a used hood from the wreckers before hacking your own.
