That looks horrible for a new truck, I probably would not have bought that one if I saw that.

its all just surface rust from unpainted parts..

but i suspect that truck sat on a dealer lot for awhile, getting washed and rained on...

if u realy dont like the look of it, have the truck undercoated.., as far as a problem, that rust isnt anything other then unsightly...

the real shame is the fact Ford doesnt just paint every part under the truck..seems kind of funny they go on about how the frame is coated, so it wont rust, but then they mix and match the parts that hang off it, for painting..

That's because everyone is used to seeing their brand new vehicle undercoated.

It sat quite a while before you bought it. Look in the door jamb for the assembly date and let us know how long it has been. When I bought my truck sveeral years ago, there was a 3 week difference between assembly and purchase. Mine did not have an ounce of rust anywhere. The next step I took was Ziebarting after I removed the spare tire. Then when I got it home, They skipped a few areas so I touched them up, and they never did the driveshaft, so I painted it with rustoleum gloss black.

I live in eastern washington and the truck was bought in oregon, hundreds of miles from salt. Looked at lots of new ford 250 and 350s in the last few days and no rust on them.

I do not mind some surface rust but the nuts and bolts on this truck are so bad that a breaker bar would have a hard time getting them loose. You really cant see a good picture of the bolts but they coroded very bad. The frame has rust on it to the point it is starting to pit. I live in a salt free area in washington st.

Check the dealer name/location on the window sticker, wonder if it was a dealer trade from the other side of the state.
I bought my 08 Superduty April 2007 at Butte Montana, I just went out and looked at mine and it didn't look that bad. I live in southeastern washington state.

Thanks, I too live in eastern washington kennewick. I dont believe it was a dealer trade the destination zipped showed the oregon dealer. not even close to salt water. I have been looking the last couple of days at ford trucks on lots and no rust to speak of on any of them. Trying to give this truck back to them but have not heard back.

My truck is almost two years old and I'm sorry to tell you this but it still looks better than that. Plus I live in RI with nice salty sea air along with moderate salting of roads in winter.

My '99 looks brand new compared to that. The rust on some of these new trucks is rediculous.

That front knuckle/axle shaft shouldn't rust like that being a new truck. Mine don't look anything like that and mine are near 11 years old. This truck looks alot like a flood vehicle that was near salt water.

BTW: just reading through some more of the posts, it looks like even some of the painted parts are rusting. That truck is going to have rust problems in the future if it isn't dealt with.

Theres another thread about rust going and this fellows truck is more in line with what my truck looks like. Yours seems to have rust even on the painted area's.
