If you are using a gasser to jump-start, it's gonna take a while with the cables hooked up especially if your batts were completely dead. 2 rigs, one on each battery for no less than 5 minutes before you hit the key.
not sure on the cables but im over by capecod. it was around 32 today. i could get the starter going but not enough to turn over. ill find 2 cars tom. to give me a boost. tom. is also suppose to be around 45 deg. which should help. any other ideas?
Is it possible to plug the block heater in? With those temps it also sounds like you may have bad batteries. My block heater plug has been shorted out for the duration of the winter and lazy me hasn't fixed it yet. I have started my truck in the single digits without having to be jumped or having it plugged in. The question about the cables was because these trucks take a lot of amperage to turn over properly and with light, cheap cables you will probably not get enough amperage to do the job. Been there done that with cheap cables.
ya im just in a parking lot with no outlets. the batterys always start the truck fine if its above 45. it may be time for some new ones. the truck did sit in single digit weather for 60 days over the winter but has done 600 miles since then starting up fine. if this happens again once i get it going ill try new batterys
