What do you use to clean your parts?
A neighbor said to use ATF and gasoline in a big wash tub.
He said "don't smoke :)" LOL :)
I was asking him about the T18 I'm fixin' to rebuild.
Needing to clean up a couple powers steering gears too. :)

Alvin ain't a smoker in AZ

What is AFT?

If I'm rebuilding a carburetor, I use carb cleaner, then kerosene.

All others, I use Castrol's heavy-duty degreaser and/or kerosene.

For rusted parts, I use a plastic tub with water and a battery charger.

I've used gasoline straight up with a rag and a brush, for smaller less crud covered I like to use canned brake clean.

Currently I'm using commercial degreaser from Costco, its $5ish a gallon and works pretty damn good.

Put it in a spray bottle and have at it then scrape the heavy stuff off. A quick follow up spray and wipe down has things pretty clean on my 30 years of gunk built up truck.

WEAR GLOVES!!!! It sucks every bit of oil out of your skin. Your fingers and hands will dry, crack and peel and its not plesant.

I only got a little on my finger tips and I was peeling the next day.

Vinyl gloves (from the drug store) under leather "work" gloves has done the job for me.

50/50 simle green and water does pretty good with greasy/oily, but you may need to use more than one application. Best part is it's biodegradable. Gasoline varnish, I use gunk carb cleaner in a one gallon can.
