Removing Warn manual hub

Removing Warn manual hub
In some point in time, previous owner ('79 Bronco) replaced 4WD hub with Warn manual hub. I'm trying to remove assembly to remove whole spindle and associated parts....however, after removing snap ring, cam assembly does not want to slide out. Since the Warn is a little different than OEM hub, shop manual not much help. Any trick to getting out cam assembly? Currently, I'm afraid I'm putting too much pressure (pull) on it...
Thanks!

The snap ring that you removed, was it on the axle or the inside of the hub housing? When I have pull the warn hubs out of my truck, after removing both the axle ring and the outer snap ring, I put 2 of the mounting cat screws back in and use them as a handle to work the assmbly out. Sometimes a little in and out movement helps getting thing moving.

The snap ring was on the axle. Now I know to look more closely for snap ring around cam assembly - didn't see it when I first attempted. I tried using the Shop Manual to give me idea about Warn, but even online Warn stuff didn't indicate a second snap ring.
Glad I asked before putting too much pressure on the pull of the cam.
Thanks!

Yes, the ring around the outside is hard to see and will amazingly really keep that whole thing from coming out. It's also not easy to get out either. If you have trouble with it, get a $2 dental pick (or better yet, two of them), to pull at it. Also, very small hex wrenches with the 90 degree bend will work.
Secondly, my Warn hubs came apart nearly identical to the diagram in my Chiltons manual.
The only thing I never find in any of those manuals is that outer snap ring.

That ring is a PAIN. I agree. There's nothing to grab on to! If you only have one tool to get under it, it'll just spin around in its groove. A (very) small set of needlenose would really help too, once you have an end up. Because if you slip, it'll just snap right back into its groove and you have to start all over.
At least you can feel good knowing it's not going to come out on its own on the trail.
