Installing 3rd row in a 98 Expedition

Hello all,
I'm new here and I've been searching for sometime and can't seem to find a complete answer to this. I have a 1998 Expedition EB that came stock without the third row. My family has gotten larger and I need to seat everyone safely. This truck has been a dream to own and I really don't want to get rid of it for a truck with the 3rd row just to have other issues. How do you go about installing the third row in an Expedition that never came with this option?

Are these actually Ford seats or just custom seats that are made to fit? I want it to look and operate as if it came equipped with this option. I think I saw this site before and was just not sure of this product. Has anyone here used this company?

Custom made to fit. The only way you're going to get original equipment is from a junkyard or the dealer.

Did you raise the carpet up to see if there is cutouts for the third row seat to be added? If it has been (may have plates that can be removed) go to a local bone yard and finder a donor Expy. Can't help you with the OEM install, mine had it in it when I bought it.

Where are you located? I have a 1997 with the light grey 3rd row seat that I am parting out. I can cut out the boxes you need to mount in the floor too.

I am in South Eastern PA however so while shipping the floor pieces would be possible shipping the seat could be expensive but possible

If I recall correctly, the seat belts in the factory installation are attached to the truck and do not come out with the seat. If that is the case, you will need to do a complete install of the belts and their mounting locations. The aftermarket link above addresses it by attaching the belts to the seat. Either way it's going to cost....
You talk about "safely seating everyone", I'd suggest that the third row isn't really a way to achieve that. There is no room between the back of the truck and the seat. You get it from behind and whomever is in that seat is likley to get hurt. You might want to consider an Excursion or Suburban if you really need that room, at least there is some leeway back there.

Huh? There is at least a foot behind the rear seat and the rear deck and god knows the expedition is tougher then any car so I would be more comfortable with my kids being in the 3rd row in the Expedition then in the back seat of a Saturn sized car as an example.

JMHO but we have a large family and the Expedition with the 3rd row is our choice.

If you're good with your head a foot from a trucks bumper, then you are absolutely correct.

Are you still parting out your Expy? If so I was thinking of buying those 3rd fow seat boxes. Can a large section be cut out that includes both boxes.

Ok, I just got a great deal on a 3rd row seat from a 1999 Navigator and its grey. The seller is throwing the rear seat belts and floor mounts. He's going to cut out about a 2ft x 1ft section of the rear floor with the mounts. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
