Hey Guys,
My dad is trying to restore his '77 F250 Custom 4x4 truck and he's getting snagged on finding original front bumper brackets. He says he's explored most of his options - LMC catalog, local junk yard, etc. and hasn't found what he needs.
Yeah the 4X4 frame horns are the same way. The "bumper brakets" are part of the frame rails themselves. Is you're dads frame cut off @ the front? You could try going on a trip to the junkyard with a sawsall for them, as long as your dad is good with a welder, or you know a good welder, you should be ok. You could gusset the joint on the inside of the rails, and smooth out the welds on the outside to make it appear stock.

You have an F150. F100/150's do NOT have front bumper brackets!

That's in-correct!
As original...
The F250 (and F350) front bumper brackets are NOT part of the frame rails!
The following fit: 1973/79 F250 2WD/4WD // 1973/77 F350 (1978/79 F350's use different brackets).

This is...at the very least...the TENTH time I've posted these bumper bracket part numbers here on FTE.

Hey # Dummy, do you know where I can see a pic of what he needs? I know you know alot more about these old fords than me, so I'm now curious to know what they are since I never knew they existed. Was it something special to the 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks? My F-150's bumper and bronco's bumper are bolted directly to the frame rails- no brackets. Or am I somehow missing some parts here too?

As I responded to tankrsc (edited above), F100/150's (and 1978/79 Bronco's) do not have front bumper brackets.
The 1973/79 F250/350 front bumper brackets are illustrated here:
1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 176, page 1.
Hey, I got a 76 F-250 4x2, and it don't have the bumper brackets. Its bolted directlly to the frame. Is the brackets only for 4x4s? I never had a 4x4, so I don't know, also my 79 f-150 4x2 is the same way. I saw this thread and it intreged me alot, cause i never heard of these trucks having bumper brackets.

I said this twice in this thread: F100/150's do not use front bumper brackets.
According to the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog:
ALL 1973/79 F250 2WD/4WD / 1973/78 F350 2WD / 1979 F350 2WD/4WD have front bumper brackets.
These front bumper brackets and the bumpers are illustrated in this parts catalog.
Why your 1976 F250 doesn't have them, I dunno.
Considering it's 33 years old, who knows what might have been changed?
It's possible someone could have welded the brackets to the frame rails. So..if that's the case, your bumper is bolted to the brackets, not the frame rails.
Umm.. no, no brackets at all on the 250, directly to the frame. And yes I know you said it twice, but maybe it was an option or something. I didn't know they used the brackets period. As every 100, 150, and 250 I have been around never had them. And the way the shape of the frame "horns" as yall call them match up directly to the shape of the bumper itself. Thats all I'm saying, I just thought it was weird they have them and they also seem pointless to me anyhow.
Oh, by the way Number Dummy, I'm not trying to be a jerk, and say you don't anything about this stuff, cuz I know you do, your rep is quite high and I don't want to get on your bad side. Its just that I have never heard of those things, not even in a repair manual or parts book. I know you know alot more about these trucks than me, but I do know a bit as these are the only trucks I like and care about, so I read about them alot and they are also the only trucks I have been around and have owned. But I did notice in the pic above on the 4x4, it seems it is there because of the leaf spring mount, as if were not there the bumper would rub against the leaf springs. So, it might be useful in that application, but I don't see the use of it on a 4x2(f-150 or f-250), it just seems pointless.
um no no brackets at all on 250's straight to the frame That's a load of CACA del TORO!
You can lead a MULE to water, but you cannot make it drink!

Do you have the actual 1973/79 FORD LIGHT TRUCK PARTS CATALOG?
Prolly not...because if you did...you would see in the TEXT = Section 176 / Page 9: D3TZ17752Aright & D3TZ17753Aleft bumper brackets listed for 1973/79 F250 2WD/4WD's, 1973/77 F350's.
If you had the parts catalog, you would see an actual picture of the front bumper and all the related parts...including the bumper brackets, in ILLUSTRATION Section 176 / Page 1.
I don't make this jazz up...When I type part numbers, they come straight from Ford parts catalogs.
Want further proof? Look at the pictures in post #9.
Those sure look like bumper brackets to me...
You weren't even born when these trucks were new. So...you have no idea how they came from the factory.
You cannot go by what these trucks have today, because they are 30 + years old and have had multiple owners.
Hey reread my post I said no brackets ON MY F-250, NOT ALL OF THEM. And I did see the pics on the earlier post, as I mentioned that. I wasn't trying to be a jerk, but you certainly are. I didn't say anything rude to you. Yes it maybe be possible that they was removed and the bumper bolted back on, but that wouldn't make any since. Oh, I may have not been born when these trucks were built, but I have been around them since I was born, as my grandpa had a 78 F-250 4x4 Ranger, and it was my favorite truck, and ever since then, they have been the only trucks a like and have been around. And I have been around LOTS of them, and I NEVER seen a bumper bracket on any of them. So, when this post came up, it struck me as I never knew they had them. Jeez, don't gotta bark at me, jus cuz I'm not as old as some of yall on here, and don't know as much, I was simply stateing a simple fact about my truck, and you took it the wwrong way.
