#8 injector

I just got done putting the external fuel pressure regulator kit on my truck and was wondering if i should change the #8 injector? Any input would be great and also is it worth changing it?

I was going to ask the very same question. On DI's website, it says it's a good idea, but I've never heard of anyone actually doing it.

I changed mine out, only because I got a replacment for free (thanks to CSIPSD who had a core set of injectors). It's not necessary to replace the LL injector with a standard AD after a regulated return install. However, it does reduce the knock on that cylinder.

I suppose it depends on how **** you are about these things. Generally, the consensus is there is no need. Also I have traded in my 7 AD and 1 AE injectors so I can tell you there is no need otherwise, I would say "YES!! and I just happen to have one on hand.".

So Ford put the LL injector in there to help quiet some of the knock. But with the RR system, the LL knocks more than a standard AD?

I could get a very good used one for under $100, but I think I'll just wait and see how bad it is before I do. If I don't like the knock, then I'll swap it out.

Till you get it burped out. You just introduced air into the system.

Yeah, by opening everything up in the fuel system, there will be quite a bit of air to get burped out! I'd expect that.

BTW- What have you guys found is a good pressure to run? I don't have an in-dash gauge so I'll have to adjust it at idle with the gauge on the regulator. So the better question is "What kind of pressures should I set at idle? I know each truck is different, but just curious.

Does it drop once you're driving the truck or at WOT?

That's what I figured. I'm still running the stock pump but will eventually go to a larger one down the road. I'm kinda wanting to try the new Fuelab brushless pump. Alot more expensive than the Walbro so who knows.
