Anyone know much about Kumho Tires?

Anyone run these kind of tires before? if so comments on them? Loking at purcahsing the Road Venture MT KL71 33/12.5R20's for the rig. I will be towing a boat 280 miles about 5 or 6 times over the summer. Would these be a good choice? Havent really heard much about these before. Thanks Jaret

My buddy has a set of 33" MTs on his Ranger with a giant hole in his exhaust. At 70mph the tires roared above his exhaust. Some people like me like that kinda thing tho lol.

On the other hand though, he's gone through some pretty nasty stuff with them.

Kumho is a great brand! I work for the largest tire distributor in the US. The company is American Tire Distributors (ATD). ATD started distributing the Kumho brand about 7 years ago. At that time, I worked very closely with the Buyers. I never heard any complaints or issues on the Kumho brand. They are a 2nd Tier brand as opposed to the 1st Tier brand like Michelin, Goodyear, or Bridgestone. Kumho doesn't advertise that much, which is why you are asking about them.

They are a good tire but I was always fond of the Dayton Radial Stag XT for a mud tire. But I used to work for a Firestone Dealer. Kumo just as good though.

I haven't used them, but a friend has a set on his dodge and likes them. Also, there is alot of SDs around here running them, so they must work ok.

I've never heard anything "bad" about them. They seem "good".
They are not cutting edge technology, more likely using copycat techniques and secondhand equipment.
As mentioned, they are made in Korea. Since Korea does not need to meet American or European liability or labor laws, their manufacturing costs are tremendously lower.
Just remember, if something were to go terribly wrong (highly unlikely, but still), you're not going to get much, if anything, if you wanted to sue them...

From a street/performance car point of view: Good, cheap tires. Don't expect them to last long though.

i just put these tires on my truck but 315s, they are pretty quite compared to my firestone destination mt and they ride better a little better. If your buying a MT tire expect them to make alot noise! if you want tires for towing or road driving get HTs or ATs.

overall they are a decent tire...
