Exclamation Snow plow heavy service springs??

Hello Everyone, I would really appreciate any info you guys can give me. I Just traded work trucks, My new truck is an 09 single cab f-350, I have a few commercial plowing accounts I do in the winter months to help make ends meet, I was unable to locate a truck with a snowplow package, But I am getting desperate to find some heavy service front springs( my old truck had snowplow package) My local service department hasnt been very helpful, they almost act like they dont know what I am talking about. Where can I get a part # for the heavy service snow plow springs? Also do the heavy service spring help the front end sit up taller, There is almost 4 inches difference from the front to back .
I can definately tell the difference in not having the heavy springs!!
Thanks

Welcome to FTE! You need to get in touch with Ed, the FTE resident Ford parts man. His user name is FTE/PARTS-GUY, do a search for that name and see if you can get some help from him.

Call other dealers... I went through the same thing until I found a dealer that Knew what he was talking about. My expierence is the stiffer springs raised the front about 1" ( I went with the next stiffest ). I also ordered a 2" leveling kit I installed the same time and presto... perfect level and minimal sag with a 9'2" V plow. Sorry, I have no part numbers.. call more dealers.

FTE/PARTS-GUY is also listed in the new sponsor list at the top of every page as "Y2K Ford Discount parts".

His web site is here: Ford Parts and Motorcraft Parts at Discount Prices Ford Think Parts

However, you should PM him directly as FTE/PARTS-GUY and ask about the springs.

Also, check your door sticker for a spring code and post that.

Another thing, "heavy-service suspension" is usually just a single-level bump for the front springs, so they aren't the same as "snow plow prep". For the snow plow prep packages that we've discussed here at FTE, they are usually the highest rated spring available for the front end.

Is your truck a diesel?

The snow plow prep package states "computer generated springs." It includes 200amp alternator for diesel and unique fan clutch for diesel. Not trying to step on anyones toes here just supplying some info on what I just went through 2 weeks ago. My 06 diesel with a plow package came with 6000lb springs. My 08 5.4 without a plow package came with 4600 or 4800lbs springs and I swapped them to 6000lbs. For the diesel you will need 6000lb springs and the 2" leveling kit. For a gas all you will need is the 6000lb springs. I have a boss 9'2" Vee plow and the front drops not more than 2".

If you have a diesel not that much thats why you need the 2" coil spacers.
If you have a 5.4 like I do the 6000lb springs level it good. Now someone, somewhere said there was also 7000lb for like F-450-550's. I have no expierence with those.

My truck came with 'snow plow' springs rated at 5200 lbs.

They were too soft and my truck would bottom out and hit hard when it was cold out. I upgraded to 6000 lb. coils (got them from Ed, great guy). They fixed my bottoming out issue and improved the handling of the truck overall... I gained about .75" of lift.

Since you're going to plow I recommend more than the 6000 lb. coils.

PNs:

5C3Z-5310-EA (5200 lb SPRING)
5C3Z-5310-DA (5600 lb SPRING)
5C3Z-5310-CA (6000 lb SPRING)
5C3Z-5310-BA (6500 lb SPRING)
5C3Z-5310-AA (7000 lb SPRING)

My 08 has the 6000# front snow plow springs...it sits 2 1/2" higher than the non plow trucks on the dealers lot. I had to raise the rear about an inch to make it level.

My 05 came with 4800 lb springs....I ordered 6000 lb springs from Ed FTP PARTS GUY. They raised the front about 1.75"-2.0" and I can put a 9' fisher on the front and it only squats about 1". See Pics HERE http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...9/DSC_3580.jpg

They also make air bags that fit inside the springs, it might be a lot easier.

And what are those springs??
You do not need more than 6000lb springs.

A '09 F-350 Regular Cab 4X4 V10 with snow plow package comes factory equipped with 5,600 lb. front springs. I would probably go with a little heavier spring though...
