Where is your truck and where do you need to take it to? You mentioned SE Virginia, I'm in Va. Bch. and may be able to help or get some help for you.

There are still a couple of things it could be. Like someone else said, it's rather uncommon for these engines to just die suddenly like this.

I'm sure you have checked the oil. Was there any indication of there being any water in there, like from a cracked block??

Also. It is possible that a nut has come off of the torque converter and managed to jam itself between the rin gear on the the flex plate and the transmission housing. This would lock things up tight as a tick. I had this happen to me before about 25 years ago on an old Mustang.

If the engine were locked up, I would be surprised if there wasn't oil all over the place from a connecting rod going through the side of the block. since you haven't mentioned any oil on the ground I am holding out some hope for you.

BTW - My father lives in Glouscester County. I do not know how long his trailer is be hauled an 1950 F6 down here to Houston for me from PA is his 99 GMC 1/2 ton. Not sure where you are in Hampton Roads. Glouscester may be too far away.

I need to move the truck from Quantico VA to Virginia Beach VA. I am trying not to use a tow dolly if possible, but i will as a lasst resort. I have my truck to use as a tow vehicle, i just need the trailer. If anyone can point me in the right direction i appreciate it.

I have all the tools, equipment, space and knowledge to pull the engine and transmission once the truck is back at my house. I will pull the pan and see what it looks like once it is at home. I have pretty much given up hope, but if i keep getting suggestions, i will keep looking.

No, there is no oil anywhere on the truck that would make me think there is a hole in the engine. As far as traces of water in the oil, i didnt notice any. That is another thing i will have to check when i get it back to the house and drain the oil.

Again, thank all for the help.

The clicking soyund could have been something being thrown around by the torque converter. Hope it's something simple.

BTW - You might google Hapton Roads trailer rentals. You will get a bunch of office trailer rentals but something should come up for a car hauler.

so...just curious, but what was the final outcome of this situation? Was it a seized bearing, or was it something else?
