Title issues.....
I traded in my Camry last august to get my new truck,I signed the title so the gaining dealer could get it out of my name,Well I found out tuesday night that it is still in my name and the new "owner" got a parking violation on 20 January 2009. I talked to the DMV about getting it out of my name and they said they could not because there is not a new name to put on the title so it is stuck in my name,however,If I show them the bill of sale they will put a note on the registration it is no longer mine. I want this car out of my name now since who ever has it now is being stupid. I called the dealer I got the truck from tonight and he said he will not tell me who he gave the car to because he "wholesaled" it to anouther car lot. So now I have no idea who has it or where it was sent to. How do I get this hooptie-mobile out of my name?

Is your DMV so do-nothing that they won't accept what we call a "Statement of Facts" regarding the vehicle, and then follow up on the dealer?
Dealers who fubar titles get on the poop list with the DMV. You might call the dealer EVERY DAY and ask for an update on their efforts to clear this up.
Get the owner or manager's name, call them at 2AM and tell them you're worried about this issue, and thought they should be at leasting thinking about it too.
Got an extra beater rig at home, or a car you don't use on the weekend? Paint the details on the rear window and park it in front of the dealer while you go to lunch.
Wrap yourself in dyana... well, try the other stuff first.

If you had a loan on this car that you traded in, you might start asking if the loan was paid off. Many states have laws that require a new title within 30 days of new ownership or transfer. Your dealers might be violating state law.

I tried talking to the dealer face-to-face today and he still will not tell me where it was sent to,even after I explained the situation to him. I did however get to the DMV this morning and got the letter stating only that the vehicle is not in my possesion any longer but everytime the new "owner" screws up,I'm held responsible for his actions and I have to go to the DMV with that letter on my time to clear both our names. I don't think so. So I told my command about it and now they want to get higher authority involved. I'm just trying to find the best way to go about this.....This sux.....I was hoping that once I got rid of that crap car I was done with it......I guess it wants to stay with me....

Here in Texas, there is a special form called a "vehicle transfer notification" that you are supposed to fill out when you sell your car to a dealer, or to a private owner who isn't registering it. It's a legal release and protects you if the next person to drive your vehicle fails to register it and commits offenses with it. The dealership can't help you.

In Virginia, the registration card has a place to notify the DMV of the new owner if you send it to the. However, I don't know of anyone who does that but after your experience, I might reconsider.

I'd make a JAG appointment for advice, but I'd also file a vehicle transfer notification naming the DEALER as the person to whom the vehicle was transferred. You in fact transferred it to him, and his failure to document by selling it with an OPEN TITLE is not your fault. You have proof of the transaction between you and the dealer when you got your truck.
