Just priced Line-x is it really worth it????

Hey all. Both Line x dealers close to me are stating $445 for the bed sprayed under rails (8 foot bed) and an additional $175 for linex xtra. Is Line-x really that much better than rhino? I heard rhino's easy to rip so that is why I was going with line -x. Any suggestions?? $620 is a little steep in my opinion.

I have Line-x and its been good. I think i paid $400 for my 5.5ft bed. However, they closed all the line-x dealers in Houston so I'm screwed if I need warranty service.

The military uses Line-X. Problem solved.

I love my Line-X XTRA. Rhino seems so dilapidated when you see it.

Do you plan on a cover or cap? If so, you don't really need the Xtra.

I went Line-X and love it. No problems loading/unloading engines and the like.. No rips, tears, still looks new.

I've never used it on my trucks, but all my friends who did use Line-X love it. Never had any problems with it at all and used their trucks heavy. I also agree with rcaddell, if you're going to use a cap or a tonneau, you don't need the Xtra.

It was installed on my truck before I bought it so I don't know what it cost, but I love it. My truck is 4 years old and the Line-X still looks brand new.

I've not owned the truck since new, but I've not seen any fade since I've had it (2.5 years). I don't have a bed cover so it's out in the elements all the time. Now, keep in mind that I'm in Seattle and sunshine is a rare commodity 9 months out of the year!

Thanx for the fast response. Well I'm in Chicago and we get all 4 seasons here, usually inside of the same week. Haven't heard from anyone with 4 years service, really helped to make up my mind.

I can't come up with a good reason to not get the Line-X. It's pricey but worth it if you plan to keep the truck for any length of time.

I think Line-X is a great product. I had Rhino on my last bed and Line-X on this one. I dropped a draw bar on the Rhino'd tailgate and ripped the application. Comparing Rhino and Line-X on my trucks and others, the Line-X isn't applied as thick (so it looks better) and is more durable. I started looking because I thought that maybe the thickness of the coating varied from shop to shop. It seems consistent that the Line-X is applied more thinly and therefore is more tear resistant? It does look better IMO. Also, the Line-X shop removed the bed bolts and tie downs before spraying where as the Rhino shop sprayed over them. I recommend you request that to be done. The technician said it's a bear to remove the bed if the bolts are sprayed over. Chances are you won't ever remove the bed but who knows?

According to the technical data sheets:

LINE-X has a 31% higher tear strength than Rhino Tuff Grip and Hardline.

LINE-X has more than double the tear strength of Rhino Tuff Stuff.

LINE-X Xtra is an optional add-on product. The benefits are: Resists fading and loss of gloss, is more stain resistant, is more chemical resistant, is easier to clean, is fortified with a DuPont Kevlar micro pulp for durability. Xtra is available in any color.

Whatever Line-X shop installed mine, they did the same thing; the bolts are not Line-X'ed. They also made sure the drains at the front of the bed were left open so the bed can drain if the nose of the truck is pointing downhill.

The bed won't be covered so that's why I figured I might need the xtra. They said it can be applied at a later date but I'd rather not risk never coughing up the money to do so in a timely fashion. Kind of an all or nothing attitude!
