Thanks anyway Dave & Kevin, I'm just glad that PETA did get all over me for the "cat guts" all over the driveway statement

what happens if they find that i have tampered with my cat? Do they have the right to fail my inspection, keep my truck, impound it, or fine me or anything crazy like that?

I don't think so. Six years in a row I went thru emissions testing in Arizona, the last five tests were done without a cat and it passed every time.

The stock muffler actually flows pretty good because of its flow thru design, there are no baffles in the flow path, just louvers around the perimeter. If you remove it it will sound just about the same at idle and low rpm's but at WOT it does get a bit louder.

titan, the pipe in the middle of the cat is a flow thing. With out the pipe the exhaust will bounce around the interior of the cat before continuing on it way to the muffler. The pipe offers it the path of least resistance and increases the flow, sometimes adding to a little more power and fuel efficiency. Adam
