What type of tool chest is the best for a pick-up?
I am tired of the flat fiberglass cover and the normal style aluminum pick-up topper. I would like to have an open bed to haul motors and other parts, but I still want to be able to put the topper on the truck on ocasion since it is very easy to install. What I am leaning towards is the type of pick-up truck box that sits on the floor of the bed. It needs to have room for all my basic tools and recovery equipment with some room to spare since the truck is only a regular cab.
Thanks for your responses,
Craig

at the Ranch and Home here they sell steel boxes made by a company called KNAACK.....i dont know if they will fit underneath of a fiberglass cover though. you mayb be able to look them up on the internet or something. if that dosent work out i would advise you to just fabricaste one yourself and bolt it down, or make one from plywood.

I work on alot of contractors trucks and the overwhelming favorite is Weatherguard! Keep in mind this is like asking a professional auto tech what tool box and hearing Snap-On or Matco. Their way more money, but in some cases worth it.
I've had cheap over the rails boxes in previous trucks and went with the Weatherguard this time. I love it. Shocks pop the top open in the cold, the locks work in the cold, and it's a cool black color.
It was about the same price as any of the other top quality boxes.

I have two black plastic boxes that sit in the bed as you described but the cool thing about the plastic is they don't rust. The one in the wifes p-up is newer than the one in my ford and you couldn't tell by looking at them. The brand name is either workbox or truck box something like that.
