This time its a 2000 expy eb. The blinkers started to intermittenly not work, now they pretty much don't work all together. I am thinking the actual switch, but wanted to check with you guys first to see if anyone had this issue and what the correction was?
The first and easiest thing to check is the flasher unit after checking that you have no bad bulbs. You will find the flasher in the fuse block. The multi-function switches (turn signal, wipers, etc.) have been known to wear out. I have replaced them on both my mustang and my expedition. They are not that hard to change. The one for the expy was about $110 if I remember correctly.
I got the metric adjustable wrench, it's a stainless steel one, but I dropped and it fell inside the a-arm, gotta pick up a stainless steel magnet to get it back out...
back on a serious note, I haven't had a chance to check the flasher unit, however found out last nigh that the brake lights are not working, the 3rd mount light works, but the 2 on the sides are not....
Well if it's not the flasher unit then it's your turn/multifunction switch. The 3rd brake light bypasses the switch because it doesn't blink for turns. The two lower brake light do pass through the switch. Since you're only having problems with those two that pass through the switch then that's where your problem is. I'm not 100% positive but I'm pretty sure that with a bad flasher unit the brake lights would still work, leading me to believe that the TS switch is ultimately the problem.
beings as it's the more expensive of the 2 things, I'm sure thats the problem. I am going to try to swap the flasher unit with the 1 from my 98 expo hopefully? there the same. Is there any way to check to see if it's bad? Ohm it out or anything?

Nope, these days the flasher units are electronic not mechanical. You would actually have to connect power to it and see if the output pulses +12v.
I don't have a wiring diagram for 2000 but assuming the diagram for my 97 is at least similar, the brake circuit will work even if the flasher is no good. The two lower brakes lights will definitely not work if the TS switch is bad. I'm like 99% sure the TS switch is your problem.

I'm having exact same problem on an 01. Got in it and heard this clicking sound coming from under the dash/steering wheel area. It was a little black box to the right/pass. side of the steering column. It had a relay in it that was clicking in and out. Replaced it. Then later that day noticed no turn sig. and no lower brake light. Is there anything else besides the turn switch to consider? Thanks
Probably. I changed a relay. After the change the clicking stopped. So it seems I did something correct. Don't know if the brake lights/turn signal worked before I changed the relay or not.
