351M Identification and rebuilding

<hr style="color: rgb(209, 209, 225); background-color: rgb(209, 209, 225);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> <!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start --> <!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start --> Hi..!
First of all, Im sorry for my poor english..last time i was i in a classrom, and thats 30 years ago

Okey, here is my "thing"... :

I have a 1977 F-250 351m and a 4 speed manuell. 2wd.
The engine went out this week, it had poor oilpressure and plenty of vacumleeks, so I desided to give it a rebuild.
First thing I did was to look around and try to get som information on this type of engine..(m).
It doesnt look like the most popular engine, but there is plenty of you boys that have rebuild some of the m`s....and with great results
I decided to give mine a go to..

The Engine.:
I did read that it maybe had a casting problem, so I checked all the numbers on it, and I think mine is a good one.
It have this numbers near the oilpressure unit: 21 and something thats look like a big C P....? and there is also big O there.
There is also some numbers on the side of the block: D7TE-A3B.. the last didgit can also be an 8..? And it have this ILIO also....
Is this a block to keep?? Hope so...

The plan:
Give it a full overhaul..
I have found a 400m and a 351m for parts.
Use the 400 crank and my old block.

The sylinders look nice, but I think I will bore it to the first over dim.
I want to increese the CR to around 10:1 whit a set of new pistons, but use the old heads, but give them a valvejob and grind a little in the ports, just take the casting edges away and so.
I like a medium cam and a new intake and a carburator 600 or 650.
Headers and 2 1/2 pipes and a crossover.

Goal: Something around 300 hp.

Problems:

I have to order everything from the States ( i live in Norway) so it would be nice to copy one of the engines that has been built here on this forum, so i can order a sort of a "packet"...every thing from one store.
I know theres maybe a problem with hi compresion and stock heads, but we have 95 and 98 octane in the pumps here. Will the engine "ping" anyway?

Im wery happy for coments and information on this...

Best regards

ormen
