Stuck alum wheels

Truck doesn't get used much and wheels need rotation. Is there a easy way to remove them besides laying on my back and pounding them off?

Besides going to a tire shop? Thanks

Sounds stupid, but my father showed me the easiest way.....Take a block of wood, preferebly thick and taller than the sidewall and place it against the sidewall of the tire, not against the rim. Take a sledgehammer and wack at it, personally I started off with a light blow to the piece of wood, increasing the force till it bust loose. I had to do this one or 2 times when I rotated the tires and have had no ill effect on anything.

The way to stop this from happening again? Get urself a can of PB BLASTER penetrating oil, Spray the back of the wheel where it contacts the hub, and also hit the hub with a PB soaked cloth.......no problems for me, at most I just have to kick the tire now.

Maybe you could loosen the lugs a bit and drive it a little, like around the block, up and down your driveway, or whatever. Of course this method would require a little common sense and not be done on the freeway

Ahhh no...get a full size sledge, 3 foot handle or so, it'll take care of it.....Like I said, just start out with light wacks, no sense going full bore unless absolutely needed.

Stuck wheels

After you're done, coat the hubs and the hub hole on the wheel with anti-sieze grease. Works very well.

Split two pieces of wood, nothing. 3/4 swings with a splitting maul. I'm 71, my heart is pumping like crazy. Maybe I let it rest, truck, overnight and tomorrow they will fall off?

While rotating the wheels spray some WD40 in the bolt holes with the nuts removed, let it set a hour or so. Driving it in your driveway with the bolts loose should do it!

Loosening the lugs a little and driving in slow circles works well, but as stated before use common sense, or you will ruin the threads.

I have cut a 4"x4" block of wood in to two pieces, long enough to fit between the tires, leaving enough space for a bottle jack in the center. Loosen the lug nuts, lift one wheel of the ground pump the jack and the wheel pops off. lot safer than driving with the lug nuts loose.

Makes sense, like a hydrolic wheel removal tool, very redneck. I like it!

baetke - where are you? Maybe someone on here is close enough so we can assist. I would not recommend moving your truck with loose lugnuts.
