Noooooo! Not ye last truck! You're too young!
Not real sure about the 5.4 but I believe the overall design is very much like the 4.6. If that is the case the plugs are not a big deal at all. I was able to do the 8 plugs on my 4.6 in about 2 hours. The rear ones are tough but with a good extension and swivel it is very manageable.

122,500 on my 2005 Lariat 4x4 Supercab. I love the truck but my transmission just died on a road trip with no warning. Just had the regular tranny service about 2000 mile ago.

That sounds like pretty low mileage for a transmission failure. Did you do a lot of heavy towing? Also, did the dealer do your transmission service before the failure? When mine failed it quit shifting into fourth from third but was still able to be driven before the repair. I tow a 26 foot boat from time to time but the total weight of the boat and trailer is only about 6,000 lbs.

Just flipped 151K on my '01 XLT Super Cab, 4x4, 5.4 with 3.55's. Purchased it used 11 years ago with 31K on the clock. Overall it has been a decent truck and has needed the basic repairs... tie rods, ball joints, brakes, tires, plugs, a coil here and there, etc. Western NY winters have taken it toll on the bed, lower rockers, bottom door edges to name a few.

Mine is a 2000 2wd with the 5.4 it currently has 200,000 although the rear axle needs to be rebuild. So far that has been the only serious issue with the truck. I have contemplated several times weather or not I should sell it and now I have decided to keep it and rebuild the axle.

I have a 2001 f150 4x4 XL with the 5.4 that I bought from my dad. He had a full tune up at 100000 and has had not one this go wrong with the truck besides wear parts. Shocks and brakes and so on.
I got it at 125000 miles and got 160000 on it now. I have dumped some money into the truck but things that happen after being driven like a grandpa for 10 yrs.(pops completely baby's hus Gas pedal no faster than 65 on the high way kind of stuff) and I like to drive my vehicles.
Put in all new steering components, wheel bearing , a caliper , pads and rotors all the way around and a alternator. When I got the truck everything but shocks and pads and plugs/wires/coils was from the factory line.
All around not a bad truck ! Door are rotton and no rockers. Underneath is a rust factory but Michigan will do that to a truck that has no under coating. The motor uses about 2 quarts between changes but runs strong and smooth. I got a few little things to research about but I love love the truck and will drive it to the grave.

Ive got a 03 F150 XLT 7700 series with 61k on it. Ive had it for 3 years. I wish I had the luck you guys have with yours, every time I turn around something is breaking or failing! It was beautiful when i got it, even after washing and hand waxing its basically turning to dust, rockers are completely gone, running boards fell off, the cab floor supports are crumbling in my hand, the bed sides look like the cookie monster has been chewing on the bed corners! I've replaced the power steering pump, alternator, idler pulleys, steering shaft, steering box, power steering cooler, blower motor, headlight switch, spare tire carrier, both front hubs.

I just had to replace the torque converter solenoid, replace the oil pan that was rotten, I had to install an aftermarket trans cooler cause I wasn't going to put in a second set of trans lines and coolers! While I was doing that I just noticed the transmission crossmember is cracked and rotten right where the trans mount it, another $300 down the drain thankfully Ford still makes the part though. I still have to replace the rotted out gas tank and filler neck along with the rotten read diff cover that's starting to leak. Now this morning when i was loading stuff in my tuck that the plastic molding around the back window is broken around the 3rd eye? and it now leaks. Oh yeah the manifolds are leaking as well. (I'm really not looking foreward to that. I went to 6 different garages to have it fixed and they all turned me down cause they know what pain those are!) I just can't win with this truck, I cannot afford another truck right now so I have to deal with this!

Don't get me wrong i'm a Ford guy through and through but I must say that this truck has been a disappointment to say the least, My 88 F150 lariat had around 290k on it and if the wiring hadn't turned to dust i would have kept it! I've done all of the maintenance, oil changes, I don't beat the hell out of it, I don't over load it, although I used to haul over a ton of cargo in my 88 occasionally, and it was nearly bottomed out but it took it like a boss!

Sorry for the rant i'm just really frustrated with this truck and I don't have a ton of money to keep dumping into this thing! I'm going to be installing new rockers and making my own inner rockers and cab floor supports this spring, I plan on making a how to thread if anyone is interested

2003 F-150 SuperCrew just rolled 325K

My 2003 F-150 FX4 SuperCrew just rolled 325,000 miles. Original tranny, motor, exhaust, etc. The only major maintenance has been a couple of ball-joints and the four-wheel drive fork in the front end. It's my daily commuter and I'm looking forward to soon telling people that I have "a third of a million miles on my truck."

Is there anywhere on the official Ford site where we can share this information?

well it looks like mine is a baby. should turn over 90,000 either this week or next week. I work at a dealer and this truck I would always be assigned to work on it.....nothing major. one day while I was working on it putting new front and rear brakes, belt, oil change, and air filter the owner told me that he's probably gonna get rid of it and trade it in. I told him I'd be interested, and he told me I'd have first look at it since he's trading it in here. 3 days later it was traded. I got the money together and picked it up. I really was looking more for a 2003, but this one is good too. he had it 9 months and put almost 20,000 on it. I've had it a year and 8 months and barely put that on it.....2002 Lariat FX4 Supercrew 5.4L 3.55 LS. not much stuff to fix. I've done 3 coils, all plugs and boots, PCV valve hose assembly, and PCM relay (that one left me stranded, but it's ok). including oil changes with motorcraft 5w-20, wipers, and air filter it's been solid. about to do a transmission service soon. gotta fix the overhead console, the broken trim around the rear window, and figure out a squeak but all in all it's been good to me. I really want to see how long it will last

1998 F150 4wd 3dr. I'm the second owner to this truck and it's pushing 270,000. Previous owner took really good care of the engine and kept up on it's maintance, engine/trans/4wd has never been replaced, but the bed's shot(bungie strap's the only thing holding it together and the tailgate doesn't open). Truck has the 4.9 in it with an auto trans and it does what I want it to. I haven't pushed it as hard as I use to with my 84, but I love this truck since taking ownership of it. A/c and heat work like factory, steering/4wd works like factory, and only truck i've owned that has the tighest turning radius. I do have alot of plans for this truck including restoring the panels back to factory new(might drop a utility bed on the back instead of a regular one) and expect to be around when that odometer reaches 500,000.

at the dealer today an 01 Lariat Supercrew 4x4 5.4L came in. this poor truck was beat to he**. everything on it was either broke or torn up. anyways the customer replaced the key cylinder and it came with 2 PATS keys. I had to program the keys. before I went out there the service manager told me to look at how many miles the repair order said. it was amazing 616,760 miles. sure enough when I got the truck started it said exactly that....crazy. I'm sure I'll never see one with that many again. I'm hoping tomorrow the customer comes in so I can ask him if he is the original owner and if that is the original engine.
