High mileage F150 and still loving it!

I still have a baby at 75k miles that we purchased in December 2002. It is a 2003 Super Crew XLT 4wd.
I put rear shocks on, had a spark plug blow out 5 states away while vacationing over New Years, oxygen sensors replaced. Besides these minor setbacks, we have enjoyed our truck. I am now on second set of brakes and tires.
The truck is used as my daily driver, it was and is now our back up tow vehicle for our boat as we have a 3/4 ton diesel that we have been borrowing for 2 years.
We plan to keep the truck until the 3/4 ton officially becomes ours.

Now boys, y'all are speaking my language!! None of this, "I've got 38,000 trouble free miles on my '14" mess! Of course you (not you personally) have 1,000 - 89,000 trouble free miles!! Heck, a Yugo would just about do that! High mileage don't start until at least 125,000 in my mind. Hehehehehe, mine's just getting broken in at 93,700 miles.
I've noticed those 4.6 engines just seem to really keep going! Seems most high mileage posts are from boys with the 4.6. Mine's 5.4, '02 Supercrew, and loving it more and more! It's a keeper! Keep'em coming boys, keep'em coming! I love this kind of thread!

257,600 on my '02 2WD Crew. Love it! Been from Florida to Oregon and Maine to California and most places in between. She lives in Minnesota with me, now, and is driven 2, 3 days a week. Overwhelming majority of those miles are highway and it cruises like a Lincoln Town Car. Rust beginning to show at corner of cab and on underside of tailgate, but, other than that, still a beautiful truck that runs as quietly as it did when I bought it in Battle Creek, MI, in December, 2001.
On my third alternator, third set of brakes and third set of platinum plugs. Hate to take it to the dealer anymore because even the simplest things run $1000! Love it so much, I'm not even CONSIDERING giving it to my sons when they graduate high school soon, even though they love it, too, having grown up in it, going to hundreds of fishing and camping trips.
Though we live in a snowy state, have never had the need for 4WD. It plows through the thickest snow and has never been stuck or run off the road. Skillful driving helps, too!
Mama says this is the last truck I'm gonna own, so going to make it last.

Cappie, yours is '02, eh? It looks different than mine, also a Supercrew. Mine has kind of a honeycomb looking grill. Anyway, man, I like that, 257,000 miles!! Yep, that's the ticket. I'm wanting to change my plugs soon, but scared to tackle it. I'll give it a go.
Noooooo! Not ye last truck! You're too young!

164k on mine as of 12/22/13. I inherited it just under 100K from my FIL. She's had:
3 windshields
3 alternators
4 batteries
4 sets of tires
2 sets of shocks
2 water pumps
Still love it though, because even though parts can be pricey, it's not an every month payment. Next up is replacing the power steering pump and getting new paint.

205,000 on my Expedition 5.4 Eddie Bauer - best thing I ever bought. I've replaced ball joints, starter and had to remove the left head to get the exhaust manifold studs machined out but other than that she's chugged along.
A couple of years ago I towed my '98 Cadillac to Canada and back (about 1,800 miles) on a car trailer (almost 14,000 pounds total) without a problem.
This truck is worth waaaay more to me than anyone else so I will keep it forever!
Parts are starting to be discontinued #sad.
Cheers,
Jack

2001 Supercrew in Houston
I have a 2001 Supercrew with the 5.4 engine with 185,000 miles.
I've been changing the oil with Mobil1 5w20 every 3500 miles. I have the transmission fluid changed every 40k miles with pan drop service. (Filter and flid changed) Coolant flush every 40k miles also. I'm not too concerned with the engine or trans but what about everything else. (Water pump, oil pump fuel pump, A\C compressor, etc). I've gotten to 185k with ease. Alternator replaced a few months ago, 1 ignition coil went bad a few years back, etc. I've been reading on this forum of people getting 300k+ miles from their f150s. What parts have typically failed between 200k-300k miles? The truck has been awesome! Never broken down. I've thought about selling it at 200k and buying a new one but if I can get to 300k w\o having to deal with too many issues I'd rather do that. It still runs\drives\looks like new. I'm concerned about breakdowns, especially on Houston freeways. I'd like to know what parts have typically failed between 200k and 300k miles.
