Will the Eaton power steering pumps for the 63-65 Mustangs, Falcons and Fairlanes fit the brackets that are on the Y-Blocks used in 54-56 fairlanes and Tbirds?

To my knowledge, the Y-Block bracket is incompatible for use w/ the later P/S Pumps.

Howdy,

I have a Y-block pump from a 59 F-600 complete with brackets.

I discovered that you can buy a rebuilt pump from Rock Auto for about $150.

Other than the brackets (if you don't have, you'll have to make)

According to Rock Auto, the pump was used :

<table id="buyersguidetable"><tbody><tr class="part0"><td>AMERICAN MOTORS</td><td>AMBASSADOR</td><td>(1960 - 1967)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>AMERICAN MOTORS</td><td>AMBASSADOR CUSTOM</td><td>(1958 - 1959)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>AMERICAN MOTORS</td><td>AMBASSADOR DELUXE</td><td>1959</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>AMERICAN MOTORS</td><td>AMBASSADOR SUPER</td><td>(1958 - 1959)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>AMERICAN MOTORS</td><td>CLASSIC</td><td>(1964 - 1966)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>AMERICAN MOTORS</td><td>MARLIN</td><td>(1965 - 1967)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>AMERICAN MOTORS</td><td>REBEL</td><td>(1959 - 1967)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>COUNTRY SEDAN</td><td>(1961 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>COUNTRY SQUIRE</td><td>(1961 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>CUSTOM</td><td>(1964 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>CUSTOM 500</td><td>(1964 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>F SERIES</td><td>(1958 - 1959)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>F-100</td><td>(1960 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>F-250</td><td>(1960 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>F-350</td><td>(1960 - 1964)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>FAIRLANE</td><td>(1962 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>FALCON</td><td>(1963 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>FALCON SEDAN DELIVERY</td><td>(1963 - 1964)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>GALAXIE</td><td>(1961 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>GALAXIE 500</td><td>(1962 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>GALAXIE 500 XL</td><td>(1962 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>LTD</td><td>1965</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>MUSTANG</td><td>(1964 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>RANCH WAGON</td><td>(1962 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>RANCHERO</td><td>(1963 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>FORD</td><td>SPRINT</td><td>1963</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>FORD</td><td>THUNDERBIRD</td><td>(1958 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>MERCURY</td><td>COLONY PARK</td><td>(1961 - 1964)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>MERCURY</td><td>COMET</td><td>(1963 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>MERCURY</td><td>COMMUTER</td><td>(1958 - 1964)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>MERCURY</td><td>CYCLONE</td><td>(1964 - 1965)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>MERCURY</td><td>MARAUDER</td><td>(1963 - 1964)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>MERCURY</td><td>MONTCLAIR</td><td>(1958 - 1964)</td></tr><tr class="part1"><td>MERCURY</td><td>MONTEREY</td><td>(1958 - 1964)</td></tr><tr class="part0"><td>MERCURY</td><td>PARK LANE</td><td>(1958 - 1964)</td></tr></tbody></table>Please refer to catalog for application details.

Yes.

Ford used Eaton P/S pumps from 1953 thru 1964 on everything, on some: Mustangs, Galaxies, Falcon/Comets, Birds, Fairlanes and Mercury's in 1965.

There are 4 different Eaton P/S pumps, all will work.

900-3A674 / 900-3A674-AC / 1100-3A674 / 1100-3A674-AC

On the front of the pump is a large bolt head, the part number is usually stamped there.

The 900 series was used on I-6's and 239/256/272/292/312 Y blocks, 221/260/289's. The 1100 series was used on everything else.

A/C = Air Conditioning.

The pumps are all the same size, only the valving is different, so any one of the 4 will bolt right on.

Besides the FoMoCo vehicles, and the list provided in post #4, 1952/56 Packards, 1952/66 Studebakers, 1952/57 Nashes and Hudsons, 1953/55 Kaisers, 1963/64 Avanti's all used these same pumps.

The reservoir is separate and bolts to the top of the pump on most vehicles.

There are two different reservoir lids. One has the cap mounted flat on the lid, one has a raised neck on the lid for the cap.

This is the one you want, as the other type tends to spew fluid.

On 1960/64 Galaxies, Birds, Merc's and Lincolns with A/C, the reservoir is remotely mounted on the left fender apron.

Where can you find the reservoirs? It seems that most of the other parts can be found.

A few years ago, my wife had a 1963 Mercury SS 390 and that had the remote
steel canister bolted to inner fender. Also 58, 9, 60 Lincoln Mercury have a remote
canister, and Lincolns till 1965, only exception, Mercury with 312 Ys. All MELs had
crank pumps with a remote with 383 & 410 & 430s. I know I got one nice no PS belt.

I have the remote reservoir from the Big Job my pump and bracket came off of......

My reservoir has the filter built right in and it bolts to the thermostat housing bolts...... I am thinking about using a different reservoir though and an inline (spin-on) filter.

Doing it that way, you could use ANY suitable container. There's virtually no pressure on the reservoir so you could use something from a much newer application and locate it on the fender well or the firewall....It only needs to have 2 connections to it and it could be transparent/opaque plastic etc...

Cheers,

Rick

Big M Automotive (it's a wrecking yard) located in Williams CA (north of Sacramento), has a lot full of 1960/64 Galaxies and Mercury's, Fairlanes, and other assorted stuff.

Since all of these cars used Eaton P/S pumps, all will have the reservoir.

Some may have the fender apron mounted reservoir, commonly seen on these cars with A/C.

Why would someone have a junkyard full of these cars who is not a collector?
