Heavy Duty Bumpers

Hey guys, what are some companies that make really stout bumpers for 92-97 trucks? Im not talking about that lightweight stuff that Fey and Westin sell, Im thinkin of somethin really beefy. Any ideas?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Dec-02 AT 06:07 PM (EST)]also, ranchhand sells some really nice front replacement bumpers that are the same style as diesel350's front bumper. they arent cheap though, around a thousand dollars.

I use to recomend Ranch Hand highly, but since they sold out their quality has suffered big time. Deffinatly not worthe their high cost anymore. Another company that makes a good quality and good lookin bumper is South Texas Outfitters (www.southtexasoutfitters.com). This is one of their bumpers.

I also built my own, and it's strong enough to hold the front of the truck up rolling at 45mph, and to withstand 18,000lb of winch pull on the outer end, and to take the front end off of a car that got in my way, but most people think it's ugly. I take that as a compliment since I designed it to scare sensible people out of the way. The grille guard folds down for hauling or service; the 2 storage compartments can hold chains, chocks, D-rings, & recovery tackle; even Ramsey's big 12,000# winch (which THEY don't have a mount for) will fit in it; and I can remove it by myself with 2 wrenches and there'd be no sign it was ever there. I did most of the metalwork myself, so my cost was under $200.

Great bumper, it looks swell. I like the pix with the rear axle on the lamp guard.

BTW: You did not need a winch, you needed a locker

If you're talking about the pic with the R side GONE, then even a locker wouldn't have helped. That's puredee fine Mississippi silt and all the water it can soak up, with 3 tons pushing 2 31x10.50s down into it. I'd have needed TRACKS to make it thru there!

I see we have some very skilled fabricators here. Both Diesel F350 and Steve83, those are quite some bumpers you have built there!

I really like those Texas Outfitters bumpers. Wonder how much they cost?

I started welding this weekend on a heavy duty bumper for the front that fits under the stock front bumper and mounts the stock front bumper forward about six inches. Im using a piece of 7x5x1/4" tube and some 1/4" plates to mount it to the frame with. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out once I'm done. Thanks for the info guys!

D Ray, any pix of that enforcer on your truck? I have thought about that bumper for my rig and love they way it looks. And how stout is it? Can ya smack a tree or ricer at about 10-15 and not have it buckle, or is the metal too thin?
