I have the non-pwr XL bench seat in my truck. I got hold of a pwr seat from an 2007 XLT. Does anyone have the wiring diagram to see how to hook up my seat?

 

I noticed a plug underneath coming from the floor that looks like it will plug into the new pwr seats, I'll post the results later.

 

I was able to get the connectors with the seat. I have an existing wire harness in the truck that goes to the seat for the seatbelt sensor, brown wire w/blue stripe and a black wire. The new harnesses have, Drivers side-Green, brown w/blue stripe and a black. For the passenger side-black and black w/white stripe. I figured I can splice the brown w/blue stripe and black wires on the drivers side. I have no idea where the green would go, i guess it's a hot? As far as the passengers side, I have no idea where either wire goes.

DG - Hot/Power (Voltage supplied at all times)
BN/LB - Seat Belt Buckle Switch
BK - Ground

Passenger Side...

BK/WH - Hot/Power (Voltage supplied at all times)
BK - Ground

 

Voltage supplied at times.......what does that mean? Where is the power supplied from?

 

DG & BK/WH can I splice these together or do they need to be run from different power sources?

 

Each seat is fed from a 30amp fuse in the under-dash fuse box. Don't recall the #'s right now, but it's in the owner's manual.

 

So I hook up each hot to it's corresponding spot on the fuse panel?

 

You said you had the plug coming from the floor and also the plug on the seats, right? Just plug them together, the wiring should already be tied into the fuse panel. At most you might have to buy two 30 amp fuses and plug them in.

 

The plug on the floor is for the old seats seatbelt buckle switch (two prong) The new seat has a 3-prong on the drivers side and a 2-prong on the pass side. I'm sure all I need to do is run a hot from both the Dr and Pass side to the corrresponding fuses #112 & #114. I just need to figure out is there a 30 amp fuse in the panel and how to connect the wires to the fuse panel......

 

You would thnik that Ford would use a single connector regardless of seat type... this would reduce the number of parts in inventory and make the assembly process simple. It would also make changes after the fact simple as well. I have some mods planned that will require me to do some electrical and I am not looking forward to the install.

However, for your power seat install I would say that you are now 90% complete and will be 100% complete by the end of the weekend! Don't forget to post pic's!

 

On the backside of the fuse panel is a bunch of connectors. On the same side as fuses 112 and 114 is 3 connectors on the short side of the box at the outer edge. The middle 6 pin connector on the short side of the box is the one for the power seats which ties into the main body harness. In this connector should be 4 wires (RD/BK, BK/WH, DG, and LB/BK). You can tie into the BK/WH and DG there or you can do it at the main body harness connectors for the seats which would be much easier since the wires you need are much closer to the seats at that point.

 

Well the job is finished and the seats work great!

When doing the job it is important to get the wires and plugs with the seat. I want to thank all of thse who helped me along the way. Each seat requires it's own hot lead. I spliced the grounds together and found a ground next to the hood release. I removed the sill plate Dr side kick plate to run the wires.

This is a pic of the place where you insert the wires for each seat. If you look in your owners manual you will see Drivers harness goes to fuse# 112, the left side in the middle. The pass harness goes in fuse# 114 top left terminal.

This a pic of the wires running along where the sill plate would cover. I used small wire ties to keep it neat.

I then spliced the new wires into the plugs the came with the seat. I bolted the seats in and tried them out. Worked like a charm. Here is the finished product:




The job was straight forward and all I needed was some wire and two 30 amp fuses. Now my XL has the 40/20/40 pwr seats. Sorry if my photos and illustration are lousy, first time doing this.
