you will probably get no benefit from doing this.

So yeah... the fuel sending unit comes apart but good luck fitting a high volume pump in there, I tried several but didn't have much luck. I think you'll have to convert to a mustang style setup with the pump strapped to the hard lines.

maybe you could put one of those msd inline pumps right on the frame rail by the tank to help pull some extra fuel out instead of making a custom fuel pump holder thingie

..Ya i was thinking of that to.... But i thought if the rear pump wont keep up now that...that the inline pump might not help...Is my thinking right on that...???? I would realy like to put the 255 in it & be done with it.... The only time i have a problem is when we spray the nitrous... I have a fuel preasure gauge on the dash...so i can moniter it... for now no NOS,,,..

the helper pump will actually increase fuel flow because it is reducing how hard the intank pump has to push the fuel through the lines making it more efficient. i did this to a 69 351 mustang that was using a fox body fuel injection system with a fox body style tank, the car was starving for fuel in 3rd and 4th gear at around 6000rpms and the pump solved this condition with out having to drop the tank. but i dont know how much your engine is really starving it's self, this one wasn't that bad but you could notice it start to break up around 6k and he shifted at 6500

so idk if that would help your problems or not

something else you could do is pull the intank pump and put a hose in it's place and just run a frame rail mounted pump this will work for sure just make sure that the pump is as close to the gas tank as you can because they are designed to push fuel down the lines not pull it

That looks promising... just hard to say if it will fit inside the stock sending unit though. FYI.. The plastic resovoir contains check valves for the dual tank system, but if you only have 1 tank then you should be able to eliminate this. However I bet the shape of the truck tanks are partially responsible for the presence of the resovoir to begin with. The long midship tank probably leaves the pump high and dry on launches and stops at anything below 1/2 tank. The square rear tank probably doen't suffer as bad.

Here's the sending unit disassembled...

And here is a stock pump beside a 155L Holley, it's easy to see why it doesn't fit..
