Thorley headers

Any one seen Thorley headers 218y from summit. It has the Y pipe built in. $564.95. Thoughts?

Those are the ones I've been thinking about getting. Just been wondering about the nickel chrome finish.

Heddman headers also make a set of headers with a Y-pipe.

Those headers are the chrome plated version. I've got the ceramic coated ones and I don't think it was worth the extra money for the ceramic coating because it is peeling off and rusting anyway. If I had to do it over again I would just get the chromed ones, strip off all the chrome, smooth the welds and use header paint on them.

What would be a good way of stripping off the chrome? Would sand blasting them work?

Could sandblast them probably if you use and aggressive enough media. If it was me I would use a pneumatic right angle die grinder (Little hand held) with a 2" sanding disc and strip it off that way. Might be a chemical out their that will bubble chrome too, don't know.
