From what I understand these tranny's are only good for 100k miles. Lets hope that statement is wrong.

Not necessarily - some have many more miles than that on theirs. Like everything else, I'm sure maintenance has a lot to do with it.

My 4R100 went for 175k before if went away, but it's behind a 460, not a 6.8.

Serg, I don't remember, but I believe you are servicing your 2000 right now.

I have a 2000 with a 4R100 with 187K on the original trans. They can last if not abused. It's usually the guys who add a hundred horsepower and add huge tires (running the ratios out of the optimums) that have problems.

Of course, to 2001's had the mechanical diode that caused problems for no reason, but you have the potential for many more trouble-free miles on the 2000.

Thats great to hear. I don't abuse it. I just missed the service interval. But I intened on staying on top of things. Of all four cars that one was the only one to get left out in the rain as far as tranny service.

Morning all,

I talked to a guy in the service bay last year in a 2000 w/7.3 plus Banks and Roll-Along packages. He had 200k, almost all of it pulling a big 5th wheel. Still on the original tranny.

I saw his truck again in the parking lot a couple of weeks ago. Didn't get to talk to him though.

Well I guess it all depends on the service. I hope I did not blow my chances of a long lasting tranny.
