I think you have to do a little trimming to get them to fit on an '01. I'm sure there are a lot of threads about that in the SuperDuty forum.

Glad to help - I hate to tell somebody "use the search function" but I wasn't sure where that one was.

This site does have an awesome search capability, though.
By the way - when you get to your 26th post you can enable private messaging through your user cp.

Just a word of caution:

About half of the 2001's came from the factory with a change of a transmission part called a "mechanical diode" where they had previously used a sprag unit. That turned out to be a disaster for the reliability, which they found out about almost immediately. However, since they had scrapped the tooling for the sprag, they couldn't make the change back for about six months.

So, there are still some of those out there haven't had their diode's replaced yet. Eventually, they all go out, so you may want to tread lightly on the loud pedal until you can confirm yours is a sprag unit.

Short of pulling it and tearing it apart, you can't.

Someone, somewhere, must have a serial number range, but you wouldn't know if it had already been replaced.

Well good to know. I have one of the best Trans guys in the SFV as a good buddy. He will be doing a flush and filter change. Guy knows everything there is to know about these things so Ill ask him what he thinks. Thank you SpringerPop.

Want to share who he is? Who knows when I'll need a trans, as these things are kinda like a crap-shoot. Run too hard, they blow. Pampered, they blow. Others have the exact opposite experience.

Where's the shop?
