Well the diag manual list a GEM for a pre 99 as well. It also indicates that you will most likely have a code for the horn circuit as well. B1217, Can you get your codes read? And yes, the GEM is behind the fuse panel in the cab.
I'll double check for moisture tomorrow in the day light. I didn't notice any today when i was on my back on the floor board. But then again I do floor mats down. I'll post my findings tomorrow. This is a bit OT I don't type on these forumns much and nothing quite as long as today. How do you all create paragraphs and skipped lines in your text to make things easier to read? Because what I write and how I write it is not what shows up on the screen for you folks. Thanks Dave

hahaha right after that your CPS craps out and we going to call the same tow truck ....
they all got problems. but if they fixed right thats a one great truck 6.0 or 7.3... love them both...i would not mind a 6.4 either...im not a hater
Well I said I would follow up this evening with my findings and here it goes. I found a bit of moisture on the drivers floor board next to the outside wall of the truck. No moisture evident higher up near the fuse panel or the GEM (or what I think is the GEM). But here is the catch to my trouble shooting, there are no problems today that I can find or make happen. I don't know if the moisture is actually from the wind shield or from my snowmobiling boots the last few days. I will keep an eye on the windshield for now. I was hoping to make it a couple of more months and get through rock chip season (aka Winter) before I get a new windshield. Thanks for the advice and thoughts. Dave

colorado flyfisher- it will be interesting to see if the problems come back. Just for grins, I think I'd clean my battery posts and terminals.
