Extended warranty or not?

Hello all, I just purchased an '06 F150 STX extended cab with the 4.6 V8 automatic. Love the truck! It had 35,800 on it when I bought it leaving me with 200 miles of warranty. Well, just took it in to get a few small things I've found wrong and they're fixing them today. I still have about 60 miles left on the warranty, but was told I could purchase the Ford extended warranty up to 100,000 miles. My question is this, is it worth it? I've been told by some that it's just a waste of money. I would like to know if you all have any opinions on this or any experience. Thanks for the help!

If you can afford the extra couple dollars for the warranty i would definitely get it, especially if its a zero deductable. Because the way alot of these repairs go now, even if you use it once, it could pay for itself. I got one with my truck (not Ford ESP. It was aftermarket but still, no deductable) and i have used it three times in about 7 months. With a total of repairs that would have cost about $2200. The price for the warranty was alot cheaper than that, so it worked for me.

well i know to get the ford esp you have to be under the 36k mark...so if you want it you will need to act quick or have to use a different company

If you have the money, get it. It willl at least make you feel better knowing that if something would happen that you dont have to worry about taking your time and your money out of pocket to fix it. You can just take it to your local dealership and let them deal with it. Trust me its worth it. Even if you dont even use it for anything major.

My first thought would be to say, get it! If it is a Ford ESP, then do get it. If it's an aftermarket ESP, then I'd have to see how much it cost, what exactly was covered and if there is a deductible, how much is it per visit. Either way though, I always feel better having the "just in case" coverage than not and forking out $$$.

Another vote for getting it, especially if you can get the Ford ESP. The other ones are good but you have to read carefully. Use it once, your probably well OK

Go to this website www.forddiscountwarranty.com or call 413-772-0989. I got a 6/60 FORD ESP premimumCARE warranty for $800.00 (my 06 was under 36,000 miles original warranty). My dealer wanted 1485.00 for the same thing... These guys advertise on FTE. This place is a Ford Dealership in MA. Be sure to let them know your are an FTE member...

Wildcard30:

Good suggestion and great info for all users.

I purchased this same 6/60 ESP when purchasing my 06 F150 new. Dealer wanted roughly $1500-$1600, but haggled down to roughly $900. Which is more that the $800 you state, but still worth it for the price in my opinion.

I purchased mine from the Dealer (1400) before I was aware of the one here. With the issues I have had under factory warranty, I didn't feel comfortable without it. I say buy it if you can afford it. This is the first time I have ever bought an extended warranty and i have bought a lot of new vehicles.
