drop down dvd install

i was thinking about buying a drop down dvd player and installing it overhead. from what i have read, you just mount a bracket with self tapping screws to the headliner and attach the unit. the trick may be getting power...so i'm guessing you have to snake a wire through the headliner and down one of the door columns. but i am not sure where you would get power...directly from the fuse box or steal it from one of the aux cigarette lighter plugs??
anyone do this job and can walk me through it?
should i attempt myself or pay someone...the dealer wants $1200, and a local electronics guy wants approx $600.

I just had a Pioneer AVIC-900BT and a 10.4 inch drop down DVD/Monitor installed by local shop. $1750. installed. I had a wire run from the 900bt to the drop down so that we could all watch the Ipod/dvd/sd card video from the front 900BT source. Also the drop down transmits on a FM frequency so all can listen to the rear DVD over the speakers, not just through the headsets. Cool stuff.
