F8 parts

I would like to ask opinions. Would there be any interest in F8 parts by readers on here? A friend of mine used the cab and front sheetmetal , but has the chassis, without the engine, left over. The truck only had 22,000 miles on it.I will list it on the swap site if I thought anyone would be interested . The stuff is located in western NC. What do you think?

If you weren't so far away, I'd think about it. I'm sure someone with an F8 might be interested in the brake parts.

I have a complete F8 that I've been trying to let go for $500. It's been over a year and I still have it. Not much demand for these very large trucks.

I'd take that truck in a second, and even have the cash in hand, the only problem is that your on the other side of the country. I've been wanting an F-7 or F-8 for a while now, but anytime I find one worth saving (or in any repairable shape) I have no way to get it home. Oh well, maybe someday.

Doesn't run. If it did, I'd probably get rid of the fifth wheel attachment and the saddle bag fuel tank, and put on a flatbed.

It has air brakes and a old on-board compressor, attached to the 337 flathead, in the engine bay to run them. Pretty cool set up.

Holy crap.. I would have been all over that truck if my landlord wasn't already bitching and moaning about my collection already.

That being said.. I'm a couple hours from you, and a pretty decent mechanic Do you have any idea what's wrong with the truck, and would you be interested in having it running again? Worst case, it should up the value when you sell it (oh, and make it easier to sell)...

Thanks for the offer, but I have no interest in making the truck run again, because if I do, then I'd have to redo the entire truck. That would be a daunting task for me.

The truck has been sitting in a barn for 20 years before it was purchased and towed to my friend's place (back yard of a body shop). I've had it there for over a year, and although he hasn't said a word about it, it's time for the truck to go.

Since this is a large truck, the value to make it running again would far outweigh the return on a sale.

These old trucks are really simple - even the large ones. I got a '79 F700 a year back, took it from non-running, non-starting, no brakes and shot electrical to fully running, good brakes and everything working in about 2 days (including rebuilding the carburator and re-running the fuel lines). (By the way, did I mention I work cheap?)

I'm passing the info about the truck to a buddy of mine, since this seems up his alley too.
