Banks claims 6 out of 7 intakes hurt perf. 6637?

I recently read that Banks tested intakes and that 6 out of 7 actually hurt performance and that the air density was better for the truck with the factory box.
What about the 6637 mod? Anybody done tests, dyno?, I know it's bigger and set off to the side, looks like it should flow better, but what about colder air? Especially in the Texas heat?
I am thinking of building my own ram air scoop under the truck anyway.

Hope this subject hasn't already been beat to death,
Lusty

It pretty much has been beaten to a pulp, Lusty. LOL...

Dyno tests have been done, and the 6637 has been proven to flow nearly as well as no filter at all! I think it was Mech2161 that did some testing, and the 6637 came out right at the top of the list, without any kind of cold air box.

Got a link to the Banks test results?

Considering that the stock airbox and filter are rated to flow just under 300 CFM's, and aftermarket turbos can easily flow 1000 CFM's and greater, I don't see how Banks can justify the stock airbox being better than most aftermarket setups.

I'm sure that Banks has their own intake kit, and that it performed flawlessly in their test. Just another ploy to get you to buy their overpriced stuff IMO.

IIRC, the stock filter is rated at 265cfm, the 6637 is at 425.

Sorry to beat a dead donkey guys, just read that in an advertisement last nite. I bet Banks tested the intakes on Tonka trucks to compare with theirs. Obviously they did not list the other 6 intakes!
Thanks,
Lusty

Indeed, you are correct. The good news- he doesn't just make intakes! Exhaust, programmers, trans controllers... he can do it all, and do it better than anyone else.

In my experience I have noticed Banks claims alot, and it comes with a hefty price tag. Lets say the 6637 makes 5 less horsepower than there intake. I'm pretty sure I would rather say my money

Banks is about like this guy right here eBay Motors: Ford : F-250 (item 290289376659 end time Jan-21-09 15:00:09 PST)

They fill you full of crap and over price everything so that the beginners in the diesel market think that they are actually getting a great deal because all of those bogus graphs.

The 6637 mod is a wix 436637 Airfilter from fleetfilter.com to replace the stock air filter you use a piece of 4in exhaust pipe and slip it over your exiting air intake.

Here is mine with a Petes air filter ( f250_ ) is the member name.

Subscribing.

I dont think banks stuff is the worst stuff out there, but making claims like that is ridiculous. Thats one reason why I would never buy banks stuff.

(although i hear banks does do a killer job with cummins powerplants)
