Is that whatever gadget in the back of Popular Mechanics that makes the same promise worked... If such a gadget existed I highly doubt it would be found in the back of magazine.
50 MPG on with a 318 Dodge Now the 318 is great engine, its not an economy engine.

thats good to get a guy banned...most of those new hybrid crossover things are getting like 30mpg and you claim 50 from a 318 dodge? to get that kind of mileage from that thing would need major technology and im gonna say the average joe his dog and a garage just aint gonna cut it...26mpg from and inline 6 300 is NOT impossible but highly unlikely but if you get that good for you like i said i get 12 MAX i aint bitchin if i wanted fuel economy i woulda bought a stupid little ricer POS import plastic plug-in car...stupid imports

I don't know about that. Maybe. You would know though, I wouldn't. My truck came with 3.08 and didn't do so bad. I got about 16.75 mpg highway with wider than oe tires. Maybe with a higher gear ratio and lighter foot I could see 20.. I just highly doubt it. I surely can't see anything past 20. This is something I would have to do myself before I believed it.

Hi Bill, good to hear from you. My truck is simular too yours and I usually get about 13 to 15 MPG. The only way I could get better is to let it idle on a trailer and pull it like 75 MPH from here to California. I have had some 318's that ran pretty good but could only squeese out about 20 MPG.

What is your FlareSide geared? Your manny helps in the fuel department also.
Like I said 300's are thirsty critters. They make more power per cylnder than any other small V8 out there. These are big six's and require a lot of fuel, every bit as much as a 302.
Now again, I'm not saying a 300 can not get good fuel mileage. Of course one man's idea of "good" is another man's "unacceptable". My idea of good fuel mileage for a 300 is 18. I've heard accounts of 20, even 21.
By the way Doug, I get about 15 highway also. I can't confirm this but I'm fairly sure it's about 15.5 and about 8 or 9 around town.
I find it amazing you got 20 mpg out of a 318. Those things are realiable but love their fuel.

Thought I'd share this since this thread is going down the tube. Strictly entertainment value. I think the MPG numbers given in the add are BS, but it's worth the watch.
