I have an f250 4x4 and i need new tires. What are you using? I know this is the wrong forum but more people pay attention to this one. i know the truck calls for 235 85 16E tires. but i was thinking about 265 75 16E tires. I want something aggressive but i want something thats going to last i know they don't go hand in hand but im looking for something in the middle.
Are you wanting to stay close to the factory 235/85 16 size? I suppose you are. The type of tire depends on what conditions you need it to perform under.
Personally, I like the BFG All-Terrains....
Also, what year is your F250 and what tranny and gear combo do you have if you plan to go larger....
X2. It depends on what type of roads you'll be driving on. I got 70K miles from my last set. Only have about 15K on the current ones and they are barely worn. They have pretty decent traction all around, but they are not going to be mistaken for a serious mud tire.
The Toyo MT's seem to be popular around here. I've heard that they are really good in the mud and snow. But you will probably get 40-50K miles on them if you are really carefull.
I've had really good luck with the tsl thornbirds. I like the bfg all-terrains. I'm running bfg commercial t/a in a 235/85/16 right now, awesome wear, and suprisingly, they don't do bad in the mud. Might buy some maxxis buckshots next.
265/75/16 are almost too wide for a dually. I don't like tires rubbing each other.
I use 35" BFG mud terrains on my truck but its the one that goes out in the desert to get peoples stuck rigs, I run the same on my Jeep. I will be lucky to get 35k out of a set. My wife's 97 f250 has cooper durango all terrains on it and they hold up pretty good 35k so far and have at least 5k left in them.
try pro comp x -terrains. their a little expensive but my buddy just got 93,000 kms out of a set on his crew cab. a little loud but they look good and the do not too bad in the mud
BFG All Terrains.. I have a F350 Crewcab, live in the Northern Sierra, therefore I deal with various depths of snow, mud, rain, etc. Most of the mileage is with the truck loaded and/or towing a car trailer. I generally get a safe and efficient 40,000 miles. With that stated I generally replace before snow traction is compromised. These folks with high mileage tires must either live in more arid climates or run their tires to the limit.
I run a set of BFG-A/T knockoffs in the rear, they are very worn down yet they still get good snow traction, even tho truck is a dually that usually runs with an empty bed. Fronts are something else, some other cheap stuff I bet, but they hold up good too. if I were to get new tires I'd probably go with some M/T tires considering the crap I normally drive through...
Not to loud on the highway, great snow traction and decent mud traction.
Tire wear is great, the ones I have now already have 28,000 on them, more than I was getting out of several other brands and they still have about 85% of the tread left.
The Discoverer STT has better off road traction, decent wear, but lower snow traction.
I paid a bit over 200 each, but it was a wise investment given the wear I am getting.
who cares what u paid, maybe u should spend some more time slowing down ur posts and learning how to type and spell. its very difficult to read ur posts between the nonsense, off the wall questions and babble. slow down man.
i have procomp Xtreme ATs (315/75/16) on my F-350 stock and they are doing very well. its been a year and a half and althought i dont drive much they are holding up fine and wearing great.
