Body for engine swap?

Mods if this is in the wrong location feel free to move it? I was wondering if folks in the know have a good place to go to when looking for truck bodies for transplants ( esp. late model) with no engines or trans, or blown engines etc.

Do you have to have a license to bid on insurance auctions, repos's, or salvage bidding or does bidding eligibility requirements vary from state to state? I can't be the only one wondering about it. Thanks in advance.

Search on IAA. They sell stolen vehicles and wrecks. Most states require a license. I bought a 2002 Lightning that had front end damage for 4,300.00. I pulled the motor, trans and rearend and parted it out on Craigslist and recouped 2500.00 of my investment.

Hey UBS thanks for the info. I'll do a Google on that for sure. If it's okay to inquire did you have a license for that purchase or did you go through sort of a broker who did?

What does obtaining a license require.. pay a fee of some sort goes without saying; but do you have to have some sort of a business license also? Thanks in advance.

Also how would someone go about finding out about buying bank repo's? Where do those vehicles end up? Who disposes of them and how do you discover them? Anybody know?

Edit: I Googled IAA and read the info available there and you can register but still need a license to participate. I'm going to see if I can research municipal, county and state public auctions and see if they too require some type a license?

Auctions are a great place to find them. That's where I got my Super Duty from. I actually bought it from a guy that got it at auction. It had a bad 5.4 in it. I paid 1500, and it's a 99 2WD reg cab, long bed. Not the best shape, but it's the best deal I could find. If a DT466 doesn't fit like I think it will, then I wont be trashing a fancy/expensive truck.

Isn't north central OR, basically Bend/Redmond? maybe Deschutes River area? Just wondering, I was originally from the Central Willamette Valley. Looking at the Char Griller avatar, would that be a competitor to Traeger?
Keep looking, there's a few good truck places up in Portland.

The Dalles........and the CharGriller is a combo smoker grill that uses wood or charcoal but can be modded for propane or NG. I love mine. The Traeger is limited to strictly pellets...but produces some fantastic "Q"

I'm located in a good area between Washington and Oregon and east and west for scouting out possibilities.

I'm still in the very early planning stages but am trying to discover ALL the options. I'm keeping an eye to the economy as I may have to make adjustments in both scope and costs of any upcoming project. If you know what I mean?
