Is this a good deal on a 2009 F350 CC DRW 6.4??
Hi Guys,
I'm in the process of replacing my '04 F350 SC 6' 6.0PSD. The dealer has located a '09 F350 CC DRW 6.4 for me. Sticker is 57k, he'll sell it to me for $48,500 and he's giving me 10k for my '04, w/144K on the clock, but in VERY good shape.
I think it's a good deal but wanted to see what you guys were paying for these around this great country of ours!!
Thanks in advance.
Jim

The price is affected slightly. They have the cost of getting it, plus they don't neccesarily have the same incentive to sell it, floorplan kickbacks, hold back etc. They can't sell it for invoice and get the holdback, so they won't go as cheap as if they have it sitting on the lot. They're not going to go and get a vehicle if they can't even make a couple hundred dollars on it.

Thanks Chris,
I am getting a little confused here though. I know about holdback money and all that stuff.
As I understand it, this truck (57K) invoices for about 53K. Minus the 3500 incentives and holdback that should come down to around 48K, which is right about where they're at.
I was thinking it was a pretty good deal, yet I have some guys on here and the Diesel thread telling me I should be getting anywhere from 13k off MSRP to one guy on the Diesel thread thinking I should pay 30k plus my trade. Sounds REALLY low to me (although I hope he's right!!).
If there is that much money still left on the table, how do 2 different dealers ($400) apart on their "Best Price" BOTH let me walk out the door??

The price is fair for a '09. The thing you have to consider is there are not many 09's just sitting around on the lot that "need" to be sold. Dealers did not stock the lots with 09's due to the economy and lack of demand, so it is not like it was with the 08's where they were/are desparate to get rid of them at pretty much any cost...

That makes sense. I just want to be sure I'm not leaving a significant amount of money on the table.
I went to a Chevy dealer to see what they can do on an exactly equiped 3500HD and they were $2000 less.
It was kind of disheartening that, here I was a current Ford customer trading my existing Ford on a new Ford and Chevy is willing to give me a better deal hands down.

What model is the '09 and what model is your '04. If they are both Lariats, then I would say your 04 should be worth a little more. Offer them your truck and $35,000. and finance it through Ford......they will probably go for this deal. If not, shop around or wait a few more months.

You can't account for the holdback on a vehicle they have to get. They have to buy it from the other dealer for invoice so you lose that.
The dealers are all out. I'm sure at other times there were better incentives, but if you've hit two dealers, you are probably getting a good deal. It's not like there are thousands left.
In all reality, a lot people get confused about what they pay for a vehicle. I sold them for a while, and one guy I knew was a friend at the time. I sold him one for 22k minus 3k for a trade in. He went around telling everyone he paid 19k for a 29k truck, plus the trade. Which I knew wasn't true. So it happens.

Brandon I agree, but unfortunately I've called no less than 15-20 dealers in the past week and no one has any Duallys in stock, let alone a Lariat with the options I want. The local Chevy guys had about 8 in the area (4 at one lot). Everyone says they can locate one, so that's what they're doing, and they're all locating the same one!! I wish I could find where the truck is, I'd go there tonight, but Fords search for inventory is terrible. It shows about 5 dealers within your area code and no more (about a 20 mi radius).

The FMC dealer search can do the whole country, so there is no guessing where this truck is. And if a lot of people are calling on it, to verify it is there, you are probably screwed at this point. I've seen it happen. They will give you a price that MIGHT be a couple hundred less, but by the time you waste the time trying to find it, and driving to the distance it may be, I doubt it will be worth it. Really, if they were all the way out you might have another $1500, but I seriously doubt the will do it. Your best bet is to sell your truck and put that as cash towards the other one, but again, in the economy might be a long shot. Also, being without a vehicle for any amount of time. At least you know that one is there.
Are you free and clear of your current truck?
