Ok so im upqrading my stock intake and carb, but i have a few questions about what carb to get. Im looking at getting a holley 750(a little overkill but plan on rebuilding my motor with some parts) But sould i get a electric choke or manual? Im thinking electric but im looking for this to be a bolt on project and not have to mess with wireing. Thanks guys
A lot of the Holley carbs I've seen on Summit, etc come with a manual choke and then you can purchase an electric (automatic) choke kit as an upgrade. Personally I prefer an automatic choke because you don't have to worry about letting the choke off. When they are set properly, they are virtually problem-free.
It's very easy. Most aftermarket choke kits tell you to pull power off a hot-in-run circuit. There are some spots in the harness that are already fused, but it's not a big deal to pull off a new spot and fuse it yourself. There was just a thread on this a couple weeks ago:

Yea, I have a 390 with an RV cam and 4bbl intake/carb. I went with an edelbrock 750 cfm electric choke, I should have went with the 600 cfm. The problem is you can set it to run but the venturi are so big and your velocity is so slow that you really lose on the lower end. Dumb mistake on my part. Go for the smaller carb trust me!
